Model history

2001-2007

The first generation of Varadero 125 was released in the UK in 2001 aimed at the novice rider market. Honda began working on 125 larger motorcycles after a 15-horsepower restriction on all 125 cc motors, with a marketing study showing that the drivers involved in this market were intrigued by the notion of what Honda called a dual-sport bike, which benefited from fairing nose shield.

Borrowing design cues from the existing Varadero XL1000V, Honda began developing bikes that offer a much larger proportion than most 125 cc motors, with a seating height of 802 mm (31.6 inches), ensuring that riders will get not just commander roads. see but also make sure the bike is able to offer original pioneer access. The XL125V has a fuel capacity of 17.5 L (3.8 gal? 4.6 US gal), which includes a 2 liter reserve - larger than most other 125 cc motors.

Following the cues taken from the Varadero XL1000V, Honda opted to start a new model with a 4-step 4-step SOHC 4v 90 Â ° V-twin engine originally developed for the VT125C Shadow cruiser motorcycle. The engine developed a new maximum of 10.7 kW (14.3 hp) allowed by new restrictions, as well as 10.8 N? M (8.0 lbf? Ft) of torque. The new bike was triggered by the orbits. The Varadero 125 engine revs to over 12,000 rpm; higher than most V-twin engines. It develops peak strength at about 11,000 rpm, while the stablemate contrast, XL1000V Varadero, peaks its strength at 6,000 rpm.

The engine sits in the framework of all-new tubular steel designed for the new model, but the aluminum cast-section swing arm is removed from Transalp XL650V motorcycle (like a rear luggage rack) and is equipped with a mono-shock rear suspension that provides 150 mm (5.9 inch) trip. The front suspension is provided by a 35 mm fork, also with a 150 mm ride.

The Varadero 125 was released with some fanfare, with Honda calling it the "new flagship Honda 125 diverse lineup" in the press information. There are also many positive reviews of the new model, with most only quoting high prices as the only criticism. The new Varadero 125 reportedly sold well with an MCN report in January 2002 that sold over 380 units, roughly equal to two large stablemates of XL1000V Varadero and XL650V Transalp.

In 2003 XL125V Varadero was given a small facial treatment. The main one is three spoke, cast aluminum wheels changed from black to silver color.

Since 2007

After the introduction of the Euro III Emission standard, the Varadero XL125V will need to be withdrawn from production or modified. In 2007, Honda chose to continue with the model and develop a new electronic fuel injection system based on the PGM-FI system used by other Honda motorcycles. At this time Honda also decided to bring the main restyle to bring the model in accordance with the company's performance trends at the time. Changes include a revamped front fairing that includes windscreens, indicators and lights, all new dashboards that now include warning lights and new fuel reserves installed wing mirrors, handlebar previously mounted.

Mechanically, the XL125V Varadero 2007 is similar to the previous model with engine, gearbox, swing arm and rear suspension, luggage rack and steering wheel all interchangeable and parts like starter-motor, spark plug and brake are also interchangeable. However, the air intake has been altered to 90 degrees for front-facing and the fuel tank capacity has been reduced slightly to accommodate new fuel injection systems and ECU control units. The fuel tank is about 0.5 liters smaller at 16.8 liters (3.7 galaxies, 4.4 gallons US).

To enable the bike to meet the new emission standards, the engine is now injected fuel, slightly repaired and has a catalytic converter. The 124Ã, cc 4-valve V-twin now produces 10.6 kW (14.2Ã, hp).

The Varadero 125 is now discontinued in the UK
