This tutorial is accompanied by 20 photos explaining the cooking process in what he calls "stupid detail". Her stories of her husband, family, and village life, and her step-by-step cooking instructions and her elaborate food photography, proved to be popular among readers. Food and beverages (TastyKitchen.com)

In April 2008, Drummond held a giveaway contest in the cooking section of his blog The Pioneer Woman where he asked readers to share one of their favorite recipes. Her response was 5000 unexpected recipes in less than 24 hours. He realized that he not only developed a loyal reader community but also a food lovers community. He immediately searched for a way to create a recipe catalog and make it searchable for all.

Approximately a year later, on July 14, 2009, Drummond announced the launch of TastyKitchen.com - a simple, free online community website with the Favorite Kitchen Favorite Favorite Recipes tag line! This site is built for readers who love food as a place where they can easily contribute, find and print recipes. In addition to sharing recipes, users can create personal membership profiles and communicate with each other via posts and direct messages. Users also have the ability to rate and review recipes.

Tasty Kitchen quickly became a favorite among food bloggers who can link their recipes back to posts on their own websites, thus exposing themselves to a wider audience.
