Histori

Formasi dan Horehound

When The Raconteurs perform in Memphis, Tennessee, Jack White loses his voice and the band asks Alison Mosshart of The Kills who is on tour to fill some songs. She sings lead vocals in "Steady as She Goes" and "Salute Your Solution". White then asks if he will record a song with him and Jack Lawrence. They met Dean Fertita in the studio and they ended up performing more than one song that night.

Eventually they decided to form a band with Mosshart as their lead singer, Lawrence on bass, Fertita on guitar and keyboard and White on drums. White claimed he wanted to play drums in the band, after finding the drums after playing in a kit on "Another Way to Die" with Alicia Keys. He played drums as a child, and for Goober & amp; Peas before forming the White Line. White said he felt that playing the main guitar in another band would be too much and saw it as an opportunity to do something different.

In January 2009, Mosshart, Fertita, Lawrence and White gathered for impromptu jam in the Third White Female studio. This session was followed by two and a half weeks of songwriting and recording, in which The Dead Weather was formed. "Things are starting to happen," White said. "We have no direction, we only go one song a day, two songs a day, whatever we can do and record it quickly... There is no time to think about what it is. It just> is ."

Dead Weather's debut album, Horehound , was released on July 14, 2009 in North America, and July 13 in Europe. It entered the US Billboard 200 Album Charts at No. 6 and UK Album Charts at No. 14. Three tracks from Horehound ("No Night Hassle", "Hang You from the Heaven", and "Treat Me Like Your Mother") are made available as downloadable content for the video game series < i> Rock Band on the same day as the release in North America.

Jack White also directed a short documentary about The Dead Weather called "Full Flash Blank". It contains exclusive interviews from band members and performances of "60 Feet Tall", "I Cut Like A Buffalo", and "Treat Me Like Your Mother". "Full Flash Blank" aired on Channel 4 immediately after the show "Later... With Jools Holland" featuring The Dead Weather featuring their first three singles.

Sea of Cowards was first released on May 7, 2010, in Ireland, and then released on May 10 and May 11 in the US and UK respectively. The album peaked at number five on Billboard 200, and was placed at number eleven on Rolling Stone " s thirty biggest albums list of 2010.

These two songs are the first pair of songs to be released in vinyl physical form via The Vault. "Buzzkill (er)" and "It's Just Too Bad" were released in the same way on November 4, 2014. The third single before the album, "I Feel Love (Every Million Miles)," was made available for download on August 21, 2015. Both Alison Mosshart and Jack White are heavily influenced by Captain Beefheart and have made several awards to him in several songs, similar to how they covered Beefheart songs in their previous bands. The Dead Weather usually opens their action with the intro "Sure Nuff 'N' Yes" I Do ". In the song "Hustle and Cuss", the first line Mosshart sang was "knock on the door and door knocking back", a clear reference to Beefheart's song "The Dust Blows Forward 'n the Dust Blows Back" (which echoes its own Line of TS Eliot " When the wind is blowing water and black. ")

Other influences come from the various artists that Mosshart heard as he grew up. Frontwomanship itself is the result of watching videos of Janis Joplin and Patti Smith.
