The Commer FC is a commercial vehicle produced by Commer from 1960 to 1976. During its lifetime, it was developed into Commer PB in 1967, and Commer SpaceVan in 1974. After Rootes Group, which owns Commer, was purchased by Chrysler, SpaceVan was also sold under Dodge and Fargo marques. One reason why the van is less popular among fleet operators than the Bedford and Ford Transit models it sells is because, as with the BMC J2 and J4 models, the front-control design limits access to the engine and makes machine-intensive changes; the only way to remove the engine without dropping the suspension subframe is to remove the windshield and crane the engine out through the passenger door. A 1974 road test version of a caravan motor equipped with a 1725cc engine reported a maximum speed of 70 mph (110 km/h) and 0-50 mph (80 km/h) time of 25 seconds, indicating a top speed but, in this form, slower acceleration of BMC competitors. However, testers reported that at 70 mph (110 km/h) the van was "clearly at its absolute limit, shouting in the most pathetic way"; readers are advised to view 65 mph (105 km/h) as a more realistic absolute maximum.

Reportedly, one of the requirements of the British government's bailout of Chrysler's operations in 1976 was a commitment to improve Spacevan, praised for its brakes, twists and prices, but was criticized for its strength, comfort, and top speed. The revised spacevan was introduced in 1977, using the same mechanics but with new cosmetic, comfort, and interior changes. Although outdated for its destruction in 1982, when Commer was taken over by Peugeot, Spacevan remained a familiar sight in England thanks to its role with the Post Office - which is almost completely responsible for it's still in production for this length and vans and orders which was exceptionally inherited by British Telecom in its formation in October 1981. These vans are manufactured in New Zealand by Todd Motors at their Petone Plant.
