Hello is a fictional first-fiction video game fiction created by Bungie and is now managed and developed by 343 Industries, a subsidiary of Microsoft Studios. The series centers on interstellar wars between humanity and the alien theocratic alliance known as the Covenant. The Covenant, headed by their religious leaders called the Prophet, worshiped an ancient civilization known as the Pioneer, who was killed in a battle with the parasitic Flood. The main focus of this franchise builds on the experience of Master Chief John-117, one of a collection of supersoldiers named Spartans, and his artificial intelligence companion (AI), Cortana. Other characters, such as Noble Six from Halo: Reach , were also introduced in this series. The term "Hello" refers to Halo Array: a group of superweapons in the form of a very large, livable ring made by the Pioneers to destroy the Flood. They are similar to Orbital in Iain M. Banks' novel, and to a lesser extent to the author Larry Niven Ringworld concept.
The game in this series is hailed as one of the best first person shooters in the video game console, and is considered the "killer app" of Xbox. This causes the term " Hello killer" to be used to describe a game console that aspires, or is considered, better than Hello . Fueled by the success of Halo: Combat Evolved , and by the big marketing campaigns of Microsoft publishers, the sequel continues into record-breaking sales. The game has sold over 65 million copies worldwide, with a game of almost $ 3.4 billion.
Strong game sales lead to franchise expansion to other media; there are some bestselling novels, graphic novels, and other licensed products. Halo Wars takes the franchise into the realm of the new video game genre, as a real-time strategy game, while other games in the series are first-person shooters. Outside the original trilogy, Bungie expanded the expansion of Halo 3: ODST , and the prequel, Halo: Reach , their latest project for the franchise. The high-definition remake of the first game, titled Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary , was released on November 15, 2011, exactly ten years after its original release. The new installment in the second game series, Halo 4 , was released on November 6, 2012. Hello: Master Chief Collection, a remastered compilation of four major Halo , was released for Xbox One on November 11 2014. In October 2015, Halo 5: Guardian was released. In February 2017, Halo Wars 2 was released.
The collective group of fans of this series is referred to as "Halo Nation".

Settings and flow
In the past, a powerful race called the Pelopor fought against a foreign parasite known as Flood. The flood, which spread through the infestation of life, flooded many Milky Way Galaxy. One of the affected races is human, who became conflict with the Pioneer as a result. Due to exhaustion with their war and after exploring all the other options, Pioneers contain weapons from the last attempt to combat Flood, called Halo Array. Using an installation known as Ark, they built a large ring-shaped megastructures known as Halos. The Halo Array, when activated, will destroy all life in the galaxy - eliminating their food Floods, after which samples of lost life forms will be reeeded. Delay as long as they can, Pioneer activate ring and disappear.
Nearly a hundred thousand years later, in the 26th century, humanity - under the auspices of the UN Space Command, or UNSC - colonized much of the world thanks to the development of a faster "slipspace" ride of light. Tensions escalated between the older and more stable "Inner Colonies" and the more recent "Outer Colonies", leading to civil war. UNSC sponsors the Spartan-II program to create an elite group of enhanced supersoldiers, whose goal is to suppress the rebellion secretly. In 2525, the human world was attacked by a theocratic alien racial alliance known as the Covenant. The Leadership of the Covenant declares deceiving humanity and contempt against their gods - Pioneers - and embarked on a genocide holy war. The technological and superior numbers of the Covenant prove a decisive advantage; though effective, the Spartans are too few to change the tide of battle for the good of mankind.
In 2552, the Covenant arrived at the last major UNSC camp outside Earth - the planet Reach, in the orbit of Epsilon Eridani - and launched the invasion of the planet. The last Spartans and military UNSC can not stop the Covenant from bombarding the planet. The UN Navy suffered devastating losses, and every Spartan but their leader, the character of Master Chief John-117 player, is believed to be lost in action. Following directions to avoid leading the Covenant to Earth, Cortana, AI aboard the UNSC ship that escaped the Autumn Pillar, chose random coordinates that led the ship to the Halo ring, Installation 04. This event formed the background to the game first in the series, Halo: Combat Evolved .
During the game, the Covenant pursues, destroys Autumn and leads his crew to wage a guerrilla war on the surface of the ring. The Covenant unintentionally releases Flood imprisoned in the ring; to cancel the threat, the ring AI guard, 343 Guilty Spark, requested assistance from the Chief Chairman to activate Halo. Cortana revealed that Halo's activation would mean their own destruction. Therefore, he and the Master Chief chose to blow up the machine, destroy Halo and prevent the escape from the Flood.
Between the events of the first game and Halo 2 , the Chairman and several other survivors returned to Earth, warning of an impending Covenant attack; This attack forms the first mission of the game. Meanwhile, the Covenant, unaware of the destructive nature of the rings, attempted to fire another ring, Installation 05, to fulfill their religious prophecies and to launch an attack on Earth. Helping the Head maintain the Earth is Sergeant Avery Johnson and Commander Miranda Keyes. The Covenant Elite learns the truth about the ring and is led by a former Elite commander named Arbiter (also a player character) to join the human race to stop the shooting of the ring. Despite their success, unexpected installation closures will trigger a fail-safe protocol, which puts all the rings to fire from the Ark.
Halo 3 takes soon afterwards, with the Covenant leader, the High Prophet of Truth, and the remaining faithful Agreement exposing the portal to the Ark on Earth. The battle rages on Earth between human forces, the Covenant, and infected army-Flood. Finally, the Covenant was repulsed and fled through the slipspace portal, and Flood was cleared from Earth, although many Africans had been destroyed in battle.
Chief, Arbiter, Elites, Johnson, Keyes, and U.N.S.C. The troops follow the "Prophet of Truth" Agreement through the portal, joining Guilty Spark, who helps the Head because he has no function to fulfill after the destruction of his ring. During the ensuing battle between humans, the Covenant, and Flood in the Ark, Johnson is caught by Truth to activate the Halo ring. Keyes tried to intervene, but was killed. Master Chief and Arbitrator, assisted by Flood, killing the Truth and rescuing Johnson. Upon learning that Ark was building a replacement ring for Halo Guilty Spark, Installation 09, the Master Chief decided to fire Halo unstable, destroying Flood and the Ark. After knowing about their plans, Guilty Spark kills Johnson and tries to kill Master Chief, but Master Chief destroys Guilty Spark and activates Halo. Master Chief and Arbiter escape in the frigate UNSC Forward Unto Dawn, but the slipspace portal closes with half the Chief Master trapped in space. After a memorial service on Earth for the victims of the Human-Covenant war, the Arbitrator and his Elite brothers leave for their home planet. The back half of the Forward Unto Dawn floats in space. Cortana activates the distress beacon and Head goes into hibernation.
Four years later, Chief and Cortana wake up to find they are attacked by an Ex-Covenant splinter faction led by Jul 'Mdama ( Halo 4 ). Trapped in artificial gravity well, they are drawn into the Requiem Forerunner planet, along with the UNSC Infinity ship. Master Chief, against the Jul 'Mdama Agreement faction and a robot fighter called Prometheans, unwittingly releasing a hostile Forerun fighter called "Didact" from prison. While looking for ways to combat Didact, Cortana reveals that he becomes "rampant" (the inevitable circumstance leading to the insanity that AI reaches when their knowledge base eventually becomes too big). The Master Chief was finally contacted by Forerunner's personality construct called The Didact's Wife, who told him about Didact: during the crisis with Flood, Didact tried to use a device called Composer to turn humans into Prometheans. He does this because he needs an army that is immune to Flood Infection. His own race then imprisoned him along with the soldiers and the Forerunner man he had converted. The composer is hidden. After Didact left Requiem and took the Composer, Cortana and Master Chief took him to Earth. Although Didact was able to fire the Composer in North America, digitizing more than seven million people, Master Chief and Cortana were finally able to cast a hateful Forerunner into the slipspace portal. They then destroy the ship Composer and Didact with nuclear devices. Cortana sacrificed himself to save Master Chief from the explosion he caused. Master Chief was later found floating among the ruins, and brought back to Infinity .
Halo 5: Trustee started eight months later. The Blue Team - consisting of four of the remaining five Spartan-II (Master Chief, Fred-104, Kelly-87 and Linda-58), receives a signal from Cortana indicating that he has survived his "death" by taking advantage of Forerunner AI technology. The Head, disobeying direct orders, travels to the planet of Genesis to reunite with him. Another firefighter known as Fireteam Osiris, a group of Spartans from the competing Spartan-IV program, was deployed to arrest him. This journey takes them to places around the galaxy, including the homeworld Elite of Sanghelios, where the Arbiter leads an attack on the last remnants of the Ex-Covenant faction Jul 'Mdama. As they travel, Osiris discovers that Cortana activates the ancient construction of the reputed Forerunner - Guardians - with which he plans to impose a permanent galaxy's peace on the pain of death. He detained the Master Chief team at Cryptum to force them into meditative hibernation, and while Fireteam Osiris could save them, they could not stop Cortana from executing his plan, paralyzing most of contemporary technology in the galaxy by the Wali way, and thus carrying all the remaining species under its auspices. When the game ended, Blue Team, Fireteam Osiris and Arbiter gathered back in Sanghelios to plan their resistance.

Game series
Original trilogy
The main trilogy game Halo is developed by Bungie, and is the first person shooter where players experience most of the action from the protagonist's perspective. The first title in this series is the Xbox version of Halo: Combat Evolved, released on November 15, 2001. The game was originally intended to be released for Windows and Mac OS, until the purchase of Bungie in Microsoft 2000 caused the game to be the launch title Xbox and delay any releases for personal computers for 2 years. Halo: Combat Evolved introduces many gameplay and general plot themes throughout the trilogy. The battle players of various aliens walk on foot and in vehicles to complete the destination, while trying to uncover the secrets of the eponymous Halo. One concept introduced at Halo: Combat Evolved , is to limit the number of weapons players who can carry two, forcing them to carefully choose weapons of their choice. Players fight with close and close range attacks, as well as a limited number of grenades. Bungie refers to the "weapons-grenades" format as the "Golden Triangle Halo ", which remains fundamentally unchanged throughout the trilogy. In Halo: Combat Evolved , player health is measured at both blow points and energy shields that are constantly replenished; the sequels keep the hit point system even though it is back in spin-off. A Windows and Mac OS X port was later developed by Gearbox Software, and was released on September 30 and November 11, 2003, respectively. The stand-alone expansion, titled Halo: Custom Edition , was released as Windows exclusively, and allows players to create custom content for games.
The sequel, Halo 2, was released on Xbox on November 9, 2004, and later for Windows Vista on May 17, 2007. For the first time, the game was released in two different editions: a standard edition with only game discs and packaging Traditional Xbox; and Collector Edition with specially designed aluminum boxes, along with additional bonus DVDs, additional books, and user manuals. Halo 2 introduces new game elements, especially among them the ability to hold and fire two weapons simultaneously, known as "dual wielding". Unlike its predecessors, Halo 2 supports online multiplayer online via Xbox Live. This game uses "matchmaking" to facilitate the joining of online games by grouping players looking for certain types of games. This is a change from the more traditional "list server" approach, which is used to find matches in online gaming right now. Upon release, Halo 2 became the game most people played on the Xbox Live service that week; it has retained this title for over two years - the longest streak every game has taken hold of.
Halo 3 is the last game in the main trilogy Halo , ending a story that starts with Halo: Combat Evolved . The game was released on Xbox 360 on September 25, 2007. It added new vehicle series, new weapons, and a class of goods called equipment. The game also includes a limited editing tool, known as Forge, which allows players to enter game objects, such as weapons and crate, into existing multiplayer map geometries. Players can also save a recording of their game sessions, and view them as videos, from various angles.
At E3 2014, Microsoft and 343 Industries announced Halo: Master Chief Collection , released on November 11, 2014, for Xbox One. This game includes a full and multiplayer player campaign mode Halo: Combat Evolved , Halo 2 , Halo 3 , and Halo 4 Campaign is then released as a DLC, and is free for those who purchase Master Chief Collection during late 2014. Prequel
After the release of Halo 3 , Bungie decided to make a prequel to the original Hello trilogy. When the match will take place in a crushed human world, their focus on the environment in the game, is very wide. Old song composers Halo Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori are back to compose a Range span soundtrack, aimed at a bleaker sound to coincide with the story.
Reach was first announced at Electronic Entertainment Expo 2009, and the first trailer is featured on the Spike Video Game Awards 2009. Players who purchase ODST are eligible to participate in Reach multiplayer beta in May 2010; beta allows Bungie to get player feedback to fix software bugs and improve the game before completing the official release. Microsoft's budget for marketing campaigns Reach is the largest in the world, and creates award-winning live action ads, action figures, and interactive media to promote the game.
Once released, the game grossed US $ 200 million on the first day, setting a new record for the franchise. Reach is also well-sold internationally, in addition to moving more than three million units the first month in North America. Positive critical reception, with reviews from GamePro , IGN, and Xbox Official Magazine call it "best title Hello ." This game is Bungie's last job in the release Hello .
Reclaimer saga
After Bungie's part of Microsoft, 343 Industries - a studio founded by Microsoft in 2009 - took over the leadership of the franchise Halo . 343 has co-developed the animated series Halo Legends and has overseen the production of Halo: Reach and Halo: Breeding Warning . The next game in the series, Halo 4 , was announced on E3 2011 as the first entry in what will become a new series of Halo games, also known as "Reclaimer Trilogy". This game includes many previous games, such as new or redesigned weapons, improved map editing tools, and expanded multiplayer options and maps. Halo 4 was released worldwide on November 6, 2012, reaching record sales for the franchise. In the new additions to the series, the story-driven multiplayer campaign titled Spartan Ops was released for several weeks after the release of Halo 4 ', telling what happened after the main game ends.
Halo 5: The guardian , a sequel of Halo 4 , was released for Xbox One on October 27, 2015. The game takes place in many different worlds, especially the Covenant, and revolves around Chief Hunting Master Spartan Locke. The next chapter, Hello Infinite , was announced on E3 2018.
Spin-off
The success of the main trilogy Halo spurs the making of spin-off games. Halo Wars is a real-time strategy game developed by Ensemble Studios for Xbox 360. Set in 2531, the game lasted 21 years before the Halo: Combat Evolved event. Much effort has been spent on developing a simple and intuitive control scheme, unlike other console strategy games. The game was announced on X06, and released in February and March 2009.
In a July 2008 interview with MTV, Microsoft's Xbox business head, Don Mattrick, stated that Bungie is working on a new Halo game for Microsoft, regardless of other Halo projects. The announcement of the new project Halo is expected at the E3 game exposition of 2008, which Bungie says "has been created for several months", but was postponed by their Microsoft publisher. The Halo announcement is part of Microsoft's 150 minute E3 presentation, and is cut to trim the presentation to 90 minutes; Microsoft says it wants to give the game itself a special event. After releasing an ambiguous teaser trailer on September 25th, the project was revealed as Halo 3: Recon , then changed to Halo 3: ODST . Set between events Hello 2 and Halo 3 , players control an elite human army called Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODST). This game was released on September 22, 2009.
In October 2017, 343 Industries released the title of a virtual reality demo Halo Recruit . In 2018, 343 Industries partnered with Raw Thrills and PlayMechanix to develop a coin-operated arcade game called Halo: Fireteam Raven to be released worldwide at the end of 2018, with Round1 USA and Dave & amp; Buster Buster released first.
Alternative reality game
An alternative reality game is used to promote game releases in the main trilogy. The Cortana Letters, a series of secret email messages, was circulated by Bungie before Halo: Combat Evolved ' s release. I Love Bees is used to promote the release of Halo 2 . The game revolves around a web site created by Entertainment 42, commissioned by Microsoft and authorized by Bungie. During the game, an audio clip is released which eventually forms a complete five-hour story on Earth between Halo and Halo 2 . Similarly, Iris is used as a viral marketing campaign to release Halo 3 . It displays five web servers containing various media files related to the Halo universe.
Canceled project
Some spinoff titles are planned for release on handheld systems, but do not thrive in development. Rumors of the Hello handheld title for Game Boy Advance appeared in 2004. Bungie denied the rumors and commented that such a project between Microsoft and Nintendo would be "highly unlikely". At the Las Vegas consumer technology convention in January 2005, rumors spread about the Hello version for the Gizmondo handheld system. Bungie denied the rumor that states they did not make games for the system. A former employee of Gizmondo later revealed the development only extended to the basic story and game structure concept to get funding from investors. In 2006, a concept video for Microsoft's Ultra-Mobile portable PC featured the trailer Halo and caused speculation for the handheld title. Microsoft later stated that the tape was only for demonstration purposes; Hello is included because it is a property of Microsoft. In January 2007, IGN's editor-in-chief Matt Casamassina claimed he played the Halo version for the Nintendo DS. He then shows on camera, in-game recording version of the initial development style Halo DS . The work shown featured dual-wielding and a version of the Halo 2 map Zanzibar. On October 5, 2007, Bungie employee Brian Jarrard explained the demo of Halo DS is actually an unsolicited pitch that was never taken.
In 2006, Microsoft announced an episodic video game that will be developed by film director Peter Jackson, Wingnut Interactive. The game, dubbed Halo: Chronicles , was confirmed to be developed in 2007, and in 2008 is still hiring for positions in the development team. Jackson told the Joystiq gaming blog in July 2009 that the project was no longer under development. Jackson's manager, Ken Kamins, explained that the project was canceled as part of the budget cuts related to layoffs in January 2009.
Before the company closed after producing Halo Wars, Ensemble Studios has been working on the online game Halo -the first multiplayer online game, often referred to as the Titan Project ,> or just Titan . The project was canceled internally in 2007-2008, without any official announcement from Microsoft.
On March 25, 2015, 343 Industries announced Halo Online , a free multiplayer game Halo to play for Windows. The closed beta test is limited to Russia which was launched in the second quarter of 2015. The title was developed with Saber Interactive and published by Innova Systems; this is supported by a modified version of the Halo 3 machine. The project was canceled in August 2016. The leaked beta version of the game is used and modified with a launcher dubbed "ElDewrito" which avoids territory restrictions and then adds content and bug fixes to the game, even after the official release cancellation.
Hello in other games
Elements of the Halo universe have also appeared in other games. Hello -based characters, SPARTAN Nicole-458, appear in Dead or Alive 4 , the result of a collaboration between Tecmo Team Ninja and Microsoft Bungie. The theme song Halo is also available as downloadable content for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock . The arbitrator appears as a playable character in Killer Instinct: Season Three , in addition to the themed stage Hello .
Future
In December 2014, 343 industry general manager Bonnie Ross declared Microsoft's goal for the Halo series to last at least 30 more years. In June 2018, Microsoft announced Halo Infinite at the Electronic Entertainment Expo.
Development
Bungie
Bungie is a game development company started in 1991 by Alex Seropian. Seropian partnered with programmer Jason Jones to market and release the game Jones Minotaur: The Labyrinths of Crete . Focusing on the Macintosh game market as it is smaller and easier to compete, Bungie becomes the biggest Mac developer with games including the shooter Pathways into Darkness and Marathon. What became Hello was originally codenamed Monkey Nuts and Blam! , and occurs in an empty world called Solipsis. The planet eventually became a ring world, and an artist suggested the name "Hello", which became the title of the game.
The first Halo Game was announced on July 21, 1999, during the Macworld & amp; Expo. Originally planned to be a real-time strategy game for Mac and Windows operating systems, but then converted into third-person action games. On June 19, 2000, Microsoft acquired Bungie and Halo: Combat Evolved became the launch title for the Xbox video game console. After receiving the Xbox development kit, Bungie rewrote the gaming machine, changed its appearance massively, and turned it into a first-person shooter. Although the first Halo is meant to include an online multiplayer mode, it's issued because Xbox Live is not yet available.
Halo is not meant to be an Xbox flagship game due to internal worries and game press criticism, but Microsoft VP of EdFries game publishing is not acting on this issue. The Xbox Marketing features the Hello , whose green color palette integrates with the console design scheme.
The success of the game led to a sequel, Halo 2 , which was announced on August 8, 2002, at the press event of New York City X02 Microsoft. It features improved graphics, new weapons, and multiplayer modes on Xbox Live. Halo 3 was announced at the 2006 Electronic Entertainment Exhibition. Early conceptions for the third game were made before HaloÃ,Ã released in 2004. It uses an exclusive graphics engine, and uses advanced graphics technology.
They created two more Halo games before becoming independent as part of their deal with Microsoft: Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Hello: Reach halo stories in 2009 and 2010 respectively.
343 Industries
After the release of Halo 3 , Bungie announced that they broke away from Microsoft and became an independent limited liability company. While Bungie remains involved in the Halo series by developing games like ODST and Reach , the right to Hello persists with Microsoft. To oversee everything Halo , Microsoft created an internal division, 343 Industries, serving as a "waiter" for franchising. Frank O'Connor, a former Bungie employee, now serves as 343 creative director.
In announcing the establishment of 343 Industries, Microsoft also announced that Xbox Live will be the hub center for Halo content called Halo Waypoint. Waypoint is accessible from the Xbox 360 Dashboard and offers players access to multimedia content in addition to tracking their Halo "career" games. O'Connor described Waypoint as intended to be the primary goal for Hello .
The company's first new game, Halo 4 , was released on November 6, 2012, for generally positive reviews.
Cultural influence
In 2006, in recognition of the "wealth of influence adopted by the Bungie team", Bungie's favorite science fiction material list was published on the company's website. The developers acknowledge that the use of the ring-shaped megabintang series by Hello uses the concepts shown in the Larry Niven Ringworld series and Iain M. Banks' Culture (which is > Consider Phlebas and Advantages are said to be very influential). In a retrospective article on Edge, Bungie Jaime Griesemer commented, "The influence of something like
A report written by Roger Travis and published by The Escapist compares Halo with the Latin epic Aeneid , written by the classical Roman poet Virgil. Travis points out the similarities between the plots of both works and compares the characters in them, with Flood and Covenant taking on the role performed by the Carthaginians, and the role of Master Chief in the series with the Aeneas.
Music
Seven Halo soundtrack has been released. The Halo Original Soundtrack contains most of the Combat Evolved ' music. Due to the varying nature of the game, the music event is designed to use dynamic dynamic audio playback machines. The engine allows for mood, theme, and duration of music played to change according to the gameplay. For a more enjoyable listening experience, O'Donnell rearranges parts of music Halo into a stand-alone suite, which follows the storyline of the game. This soundtrack also contains unused music in the game, including variations on the Halo theme that was first played on the debut Halo ' in Macworld 1999.
For the soundtrack of Halo 2 ', producers Nile Rodgers and O'Donnell decided to split the music into two separate volumes. The first one, Volume One, was released on November 9, 2004 and contains all the themes as well as "inspired by" present music in the game (featuring Steve Vai, Incubus, Hoobastank, and Breaking Benjamin). The second release, Volume 2, contains the rest of the music, many of which are incomplete or not included in the first soundtrack, when the first soundtrack is delivered before the game is released. Halo 2 , unlike its predecessor, is mixed to take advantage of Dolby 5.1 Digital Surround Sound.
Soundtrack for Halo 3 was released on November 20, 2007. O'Donnell noted that he wanted to bring back the theme from his original game to help unify the end of the trilogy. Tracks are presented, similar to the previous soundtrack for Halo 2 , in suite form. Unlike the previous soundtrack, where many music has been synthesized on the computer, the soundtrack for Halo 3 is recorded using a 60-part orchestra, along with a 24-vote choir. The last soundtrack was recorded by Northwest Sinfonia in Studio X in Seattle, Washington. The soundtrack was packed and released as a box set in December 2008. A soundtrack for Halo 3: ODST was released alongside the game and incorporated many tracks from the game.
For Halo Wars , the task of making game music crashed into Stephen Rippy. Rippy listens to the O'Donnell soundtrack for inspiration and enters the theme of Halo into the settings section. In addition to the synthesized component and orchestra, the composer focuses on the choir and piano as an important element, feeling it is important in creating the sound "Hello Hello ". Instead of using Northwest Sinfonia, Rippy went to Prague and recorded with the FILMharmonic Orchestra before returning to the United States to finish the music. A retail compact disc and digital download version of the soundtrack was announced in January 2009 for release on February 17th.
Music Halo 4 was compiled by Neil Davidge. The Halo 4 Original Soundtrack was released on October 22, 2012, followed by the Special Edition of two discs on November 6th.
In 2014, Kazuma Jinnouchi insists he will make a soundtrack for Halo 5: Guardian. On October 30, 2015, Halo 5: Guardian Original Soundtrack was released on CD and Vinyl. Soundtrack uses a 30 person choir located in Prague, Czech Republic. The orchestra soundtrack was recorded at Abbey Road Studio for a duration of 5 separate trips.

In 2005, Columbia Pictures president Peter Schlessel began working outside the studio system to produce a movie adaptation of Halo. Alex Garland wrote the first script, which was then submitted to the studio by courier dressed as Master Chief.
