International Federation Freight Forwarders Federation (or FIATA , French: FÃÆ' à © dation Internationale des Associations de Transitaires et Assimil s ) is a non-governmental organization representing 40,000 shipping and logistics companies, employing 8 to 10 million people in 150 countries.

History and organization
Founded in Vienna, Austria, on May 31, 1926.
FIATA has consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).
It is recognized as representing the freight forwarding industry by many other government organizations, government authorities, international private organizations in the fields of transportation such as the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), International Air Transport Association (IATA), International Union of Railways (UIC), International Road and Transport Union (IRU), World Customs Organization (WCO), World Trade Organization (WTO), etc.

FIATA Foundation
Just before the 2001 World Congress in Canc̮'̼n, Quintana Roo, Mexico, and on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of FIATA, the FIATA presidency decided to mark this special occasion with the creation of the FIATA Foundation Vocational Training, an institution aimed at assisting associations in countries less able to build and improve professional skills in the industry.
The Foundation Management Committee coordinates fundraising activities, evaluates applications for funds and assists associations in the implementation of Training projects.
Documents
FIATA has created several documents and forms to set uniform standards for use by shipping companies around the world. The documents are easy to distinguish as each one has a distinctive color and carries the FIATA logo that can be seen at the head of this page.

The organization is headquartered in Glattbrugg, Switzerland.
