Early life and country league career

Raised in Melbourne, Perkins played netball and soccer before playing Australian football rules. At the age of thirteen, Perkins was told that he would no longer be able to play contact sports because of a spinal herniation, so he concentrated on netball for the next three years. However, he decided to start playing Australian rules of football at sixteen, joining the Eastern Satan youth side in 2009 and becoming twice a Victoria representative under 18 years before playing on the senior side of the Devil in the Victoria Women Football League (VWFL) on 2012. In 2016, he kicked fifty-two goals and finished third in the leading goalkicker award, behind Moana Hope and Katie Brennan, and was selected in this year's VWFL team. In the eighteen months before being recruited, he lost forty pounds to fulfill his dream of playing AFL football. AFL_Women.27s_career "> AFL Women's career

After being ignored in the 2016 AFL Women's draft, Perkins was recruited by the Adelaide Football Club as a free agent. He debuted in a thirty-six point victory over Greater Western Sydney at Thebarton Oval in the opening round of the 2017 AFLW season. Labeled as the first cult hero in the league by ABC, he recorded eight releases, three marks and a long-range goal, and earned him the nickname "Tex "after The Cruel Sea vocalist, Tex Perkins. In addition, his performance in the match made a comparison with the Adelaide and full-forward captain, Taylor Walker, who was also nicknamed "Tex".

In his second game, he kicked two goals to help Adelaide defeat the Western Bulldog at the VU Whitten Oval with twenty-five points; his skills in the game led to Herald Sun's journalist Eliza Sewell writing "he led well and took on the strong... he used his body well and a set of goal shots from forty-five yards was even impressed with a fan of the Bulldogs, "Additionally, the journalist's Fox Sports Australia journalist, Sarah Olle, writes" The Perkins main pattern is so great that she quickly misses the point, uses its size very effectively, has a terrible kick and loves the celebration "and the edition Australia The Huffington Post says he is a player that people need to know and he is as inspirational as he is.

Perkins kicked four goals and created scoring chances for his team-mates in his seventh round win against Collingwood, leading to himself being named Sunday's Player by the AFL Players Association.

On March 25, 2017, Perkins and Adelaide Crows defeated the Brisbane Lions at Metricon Stadium to become the premier AFLW prime minister. Perkins plays an instrumental role in Crow's success, and is named at the forefront of the 2017 All-Australia team.

On May 18, 2017, Adelaide brings Perkins for the 2018 AFLW season.
