Best practices for photo gallery
There is a note on this page that many photos are taken from the library along with the Wiki Takes the Monument. This is good, but I see the problem of not immediately knowing how to send those photos to people who want them. There is a practical limit to how many photos can be loaded on the page and I'm not sure what's being done in Commons to sort the photos. I put this template Template: The arrangement of the project link in the Multnomah District Library page and I think it is the easiest way to introduce photos, but I am wondering if there is a precedent for curling the photos in Commons. It might be good, for example, to have a page somewhere with the best representative images from the library in an instant. Blue Rasberry (talk) 13:07, September 25, 2012 (UTC)
- Keep in mind that many pictures taken at the end of last week are only from the Central Library. Users interested in viewing images from the Central Library in Commons will likely access the gallery from the Central Library article.
Maybe I should create a Commons category for Multnomah County Library, which will then redirect the reader to subgalleries for each branch?- Other Believers ( Talk ) 15:00, 25 September 2012 (UTC)- I went on and created the Commons category for Multnomah County Libraries - the MCL branch image can be placed here or within the applicable sub-category (currently only the Central Library or the Woodstock Library). I replaced the Partner project link template with the Commons category template because this is the only parameter used. Sister project link template can return if additional MCL related resources appear on other sister projects. - Other Believers ( Talk ) 15:27, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
- Also, I agree it might be appropriate to create a sub-category of the Central Library in the Commons. The problem is creating a subcategory that applies both to the history of the building and its future use (in other words, hypothetically, do not create the category of the Music Library Room, which may never be the Library Music Room and/or may one day not be the Music Library Room). Maybe the interior vs. exterior? - Other Believers ( Talk ) 15:13, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
Edit-athon in Multnomah County Library
We held a very productive meeting with MCL staff and other Believers and EncMast, who helped us overcome our fears about registering as users! So I did! Let me just extend another invitation to anyone who wants to join us in our next Edit-athon at the Central Library on Saturday, October 27th from 2 pm. We will have a list (which will be posted here) of potential articles to work on and we will have Wikipedians and librarians to help you. We will check in here to see if you have any questions. Lee. - Welcome to Wikipedia, Lee! Feel free to use this page for additional discussions. Our planning session is very productive and I'm looking forward to edit-athon. FYI, I posted an invitation (a duplicate of that posted on the page for edit-athon) for ALL members of the Oregon WikiProject. Hopefully this will attract at least some more participants! (Also, remember, you are welcome to click on the 'star' at the top of any page to add related pages and talk pages to your watchlist Changes made to flagged articles will appear in your watchlist, which you can view by clicks on the "My watchlist" link at the top of the page. Please let us know if you have any other questions!) - Other Believers ( Talk ) 22:16, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
- Oh, and do not hesitate to add your name to the list of edit-athon participants - the more, the festive! - Other Believers ( Talk ) 22:17, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
We are at Willamette Week!
That always feels like a double-edged sword for me. It looks good though... page 23 (printable version). Featured event in Headout section: http://www.wweek.com/portland/article-19794-headout_[citation_needed].html. We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday.

- Thanks for sharing the link, Lee! Looking forward to this weekend. - Other Believers ( Talk ) 20:56, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
- @ Pdx.leecat: The WW article is definitely a positive thing. They make fun of dramas that take place in some pop culture articles, but most people now know that, in general, Wikipedia is true. They explicitly say so (before making fun of).
- @AB: Luck with geonotice? --EncMstr (talk) 05:16, October 25, 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, it's unfortunate that the article is no more profitable. That being said, I'm still happy about the event mentioned, and therefore I include a press template to record the coverage. As far as I know, geonotice applies. - Other Believers ( Talk ) 05:49, October 25, 2012 (UTC)
