I've replaced the alternate in BOVTS, does it look better for you? Jezhotwells (talk) 19:42, January 3, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, that's much better, and the template has the "float" parameter. I do not know how to update the Bristol folder map so I can float too. --Funandtrvl (talk) 19:46, January 3, 2010 (UTC)

File: Map of Bristol 1946.jpg

I do not think it originated in 1946. The Redcliffe Bascule Bridge built in 1942 is gone, so is the way Queen's Square was built in 1937. Quentin Smith 15:35, January 20, 2010 (UTC)

1946 is when the map is published. Surveys themselves may have been done in the early 30s, hence the missing features. --Simple Bob (talk) 16:08, January 20, 2010 (UTC)

Page moves from St Pauls and St Werburghs

User: Ajuk has moved St Pauls, Bristol to St Paul, Bristol without discussion, although I specifically asked for one. Action simialr performed in St. Werburghs. Now I do not have very strong feelings because both versions are used but the neighborhood city council profile for the Ashley ward uses a non-apostrophised version. I invite other editors to weigh on the article talk page. Jezhotwells (talk) 22:12, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

No IMHO discussion required. He acts without consultation (may think WP: BOLD means you can ignore the consensus) but wrong. I just moved St Werburghs back into place. I see that St. Pauls has moved. Although someone should be good-natured, looking at the history of this editor on his talk page, I only see someone who is not a good wikipedian. --Simple Bob (talk) 22:28, February 28, 2010 (UTC)
Thank you, though both names are possessive, I will let St. Werburgh go, St Paul is much more common. One of the common reasons to mock Wikipedia is a bad grammar and spelling mistake in the LATTER Talk !! 22:50, February 28, 2010 (UTC)
Disagree. Why you say both names are possessive. There is no definite use of both. Neither Bristol City Council (maybe the ones that should be authoritative) and the BBC use both versions. Organizations with St Pauls themselves use both versions. The fact there is no definite use is the justification for not changing and leaving articles as usual - St Pauls --Simple Bob (talk) 23:06, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
What could be plural? Speak Talk !! 23:10, February 28, 2010 (UTC)
Place names do not need to follow the "rules" of the grammar you want to enforce. there is no compelling reason for the change. Both of these forms are used by various official bodies. So there is no need for change. Jezhotwells (talk) 23:20, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
You're right, St. Werburghs is at least no more than that, but St. Paul does it, every reference linked on that page (that works) calls it St Paul's. And one of the references is even spelled differently to the linked page. Speak Talk !! 23:27, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
Just to add, I noticed you have an Apostrophe Abuse template on your page, which seems odd because it's exactly like that, which has made this so common, so it seems weird that you'll defend it. The reason why both versions are used is because often people do not realize or remember to put it there (which is often fair enough, but this is meant as an encyclopedia article) I doubt it is often missed by deliberate decisions, in hopes of bulletin boards, but apparently it is because apostrophes can "confuse people", they should try driving in Wales !. Speak Talk !! 22:56, March 7, 2010 (UTC)
Grammar has nothing to do with place names. Jezhotwells (talk) 23:24, March 8, 2010 (UTC)

Westbury-on-Trym hyphens

This one may be a bit of old chestnut, but is there a consensus on whether the Westbury-on-Trym with hyphens is the standard spelling we should use, and if so, does the existing event have to be renamed? In particular I was wondering about moving the Holy Trinity Church, Westbury on Trym to a hypnotized version, to be consistent with the Westbury page itself. I noticed also that it's still spelled without a hyphen in the Place listing on the Bristol page. Thanks Aegoceras (talk) 16:22, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

Looking at every map I can find through the coordinates in Westbury's article on Trim, I can not see the name used with hyphens on any map - including OS version of the current map and the old version. I would question why the article was hyphenated in the first place - it was moved without discussion in 2007, but nobody at the time challenged it. --Simple Bob (talk) 18:04, July 27, 2010 (UTC)
These are rarely cut clearly. There are examples of hyphenated names such as census data from BCC and UK Online History. I do stub for church and I follow English Heritage but I am not sure it is "right way".-- Rod talk 18:14, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
It looks like I was the one who moved it to my current location in my early days on Wikipedia, although I do not remember doing it! There seems to be many sources that use hyphens, and many do not, so I do not think there is a right or wrong way. As long as the appropriate diversion is in place, which is them, I do not think there is a problem with it being in that place. For what it's worth, at least one local road sign gives a hyphen: see http://goo.gl/maps/ZQvl - Gasheadsteve Talk to me 19:08, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

Ok, thank you. I will leave it in that place. Thanks Rod also for welcome message - Aegoceras (talk) 16:37, July 28, 2010 (UTC)

Bristol article has been selected for the Wikipedia release 0.8

Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB keys, DVDs and mobile phones. Articles are selected based on assessed importance and quality, then article version (revisionID) is selected for trust (free from vandalism) using the adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.

We'd like to ask you to review the Bristol article and the revisions we have selected. The selected article is marked with a diamond symbol (?) To the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have incorrectly entered or removed the article, please contact us at Wikipedia: Version 0.8 with details. You may want to look at your WikiProject article with a cleanup tag and try to improve anything that needs to be fixed; if you do, please give us a new revisionID at the Wikipedia talk: Version 0.8. We want to complete this consultation period at midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.

We have greatly simplified the process since the release of Version 0.7, so we aim to have a collection that is ready to be distributed by the end of October 2010. As a result, we plan to distribute the wider collection, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools expanding the reach of Wikipedia around the world. Please help us, with your WikiProject feedback!

For the editorial team of Wikipedia 1.0, SelectionBot 22:08, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

Jezhotwells has proposed Bristol Old Vic added to the selection. Do others agree with this suggestion, or is there anything else deemed more suitable to add? (BTW, I attended Bristol, and I live at York Place, near College Green.) Thanks, Walkerma (talk) 03:18, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

I do not know if this will get any response, but I've sent an email inviting him to join us in the pub after the chat & amp; copied the British wikimedia Foundation that funded the first meeting with a few drinks. Damn him and his naked way. - mattbuck (Talk) 12:33, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

I already have some messages from Steve Virgin, who is on the board of Wikimedia UK, about this:

  • If we submit an official submission to the board for support (financial or otherwise), she will submit it to the board & amp; it will be possible that a small amount of funds will be available for one or regular meetings
  • If the Bristol Wikipedia Project can 'self-manage' a small group on the morning of January 13th between 09.30 & amp; 11:30 - he can fix a 20 minute meeting for him with Jimmy Wales before he speaks. He pinched his agenda for today... we need to measure interest & amp; let Steve know before the end of the week I can do this for the group. Your thoughts are no more than 20 minutes! We have press & amp; another group to talk to him before the event. I think we need between 5-10 people before it's worth - all Wikimedians are active from Bristol area

I understand it is possible to book a room seminar type in a Victorian room - but I do not know the cost. I do not think he will join us in the pub afterwards (therefore every trip to the pub should be self-funded - The Berkeley has suggested).

If anyone wants to meet Jimmy Wales before his talk, & amp; could be in Bristol that morning, please mark here in the next few days - we need to get a reasonable number. I will ask Steve to monitor this discussion or I can get back to him. I will investigate the room rates at the beginning of the week.-- Rod talk 19:57, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

OK, I can be there, taking a day off. Jezhotwells (talk) 20:03, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Do not know if I'll be in Bristol at the time, get back to Nottingham, we'll see. - mattbuck (Talk) 20:32, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
It should be okay for me. Is a pre-special meeting for Bristol (I can count myself only because I used to work and live there) or an expanded invitation - there may be one or two people interested from nearby areas such as south Wales. Ghmyrtle (talk) 20:57, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Steve's words are "all active Wikimedians from the Bristol area" - how wide of an area I do not want to speculate.-- Rod talk 21:06, 27 November 2010 (UTC )
Okay. Is there an important distinction between "Wikimedians" and "Wikipedians" in relation to this, which I should know? Ghmyrtle (talk) 21:09, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
I do not think so in this context. I think the wikimedians include those who use wikimedia software in other apps - which jumps to my mind are commons, wiktionary, wikiquote etc. but maybe there are others who use software in other apps that I'm not aware of.-- Rod talk 21:20, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Try sending an email to jimmywales-bristol@bristol.ac.uk It works for me. Jezhotwells (talk) 00:18, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Thank you very much for having started this conversation for me. Rod etc. - I am grateful. When detail starts to take shape for Jimmy's day now - let me sketch for you (remember this is a sketch instead of a concrete iron cast plan).

8.17 am Jimmy arrives meads means bristol - picked up and worshiped to the Bristol cathedral - here he talks for 10-15 minutes to gather at the Bristol Chior Cathedral school on the 10th Anniversary, the movement of the wikimedia, volunteerism etc. (this has to run something like 8.55am up to 9.15)

9:30 pm We are Wikimedians - camp at Watershed One (5 min walk from cathedral). I need help HERE get some posters from Wikimedia UK/Wikipedia on good wall & amp; early so that later the press photographs have a background that can be used by JW.

9.30 - 11.30 am There will be 'groups from all cities who are interested in working with Wikimedia' 'press' our own volunteer community - with an opportunity to see Jimmy. I think that instead of limiting this to 10-20 minutes - if volunteers are in the room & amp; we work together to make sure everything is going well which will be a better way of working. It also gives people the opportunity to meet, greet, drink coffee with JW for 2 hours.

11.30am - we 'as a group' walk up the hill to the place where JW speak & amp; take our seat

12-1pm - talks

1pm - 2pm - JW left the venue (sorry !!!) because he has a night show in London at 6.30-8.30 pm - details have not been confirmed because the JW office has run out

On the day - 1 goal - to make the Bristol project team established and encourage them to have an official monthly Wikimeet - supported by the Wikimedia UK Board in any way we can - 2) Press - as much as possible a positive press for our project/movement & amp; Our volunteers - highlighting the 10th anniversary celebration 3) BBC - they are very reluctant to give anything for 'free' - if it defends the words, the whole show will be filmed & amp; is provided free of charge to Wikimedia & amp; all the support partners (Bristol ieas festival, bristol university, Bristol city council HP Labs) - this sets a precedent for further content sharing that we can build at 4) HP Labs takes tabs for today - this is amazing news - they have been fantastic for our community 5) The whole city collaborates together as one to promote this event - it's great & can only generate more support in 2011 & amp; 2012 - indeed the Idea Festival has proposed a project with the work title of Bristol & amp; The Word 2012 - which is a brightening effort to get the whole city documenting facts, about & amp; experience all things related to Bristol - I'm sure Wikimedia has a role in creating this

Conflict/concern

The show has been 'sold out' all 650 tickets have been booked. I have detained about 50 tickets (possibly can squeeze more) that I would like to give specifically to Wikimedians - this could be 'active Wikimedians' but I prefer to be a member of 'Wikimedia UK' - it is not for me to exclude any group are active. You will make my life easier though if you join Wikimedia UK (cost just Ã, £ 5 so will not break the bank)

Going forward There are projects & amp; ideas surrounding Bristol that groups like the BBC are very interested. One of them is the Somali Project - this is one group I hope to meet Jimmy on that day. JW wants to get African language content on Wikipedia. In every city in Western Europe there is a sizable marginal community. If we can get groups working to better these communities to promote Wikipedia & amp; volunteerism for our projects - when they are able to become experienced editors & amp; writers on Wikipedia - they will just switch from adding content in English to Somalia. This will apply to any marginal community like this project is happening. This idea has never been done. I have all significant Somali groups marching & amp; sharp & amp; committed - but I need help from the Bristol project team to start this - because we need a coach/mentor. Do not worry about the computing side as Bristol City Council offers PC reconditioning for any without & amp; they said they also found money to set up WIFI hotspots in the main area to make this happen.

Campus Ambassadors Program

The Stanton Foundation in the US has donated large sums in the US to establish a campus ambassador in the US. It has been a roaring success - though it is targeted at public policy in the United States. One of the leading advocates/trained ambassadors Alex Stinson will come to England to study at Oxford January 7th - June 27th. I look for him at many universities as practical (given the time limitations) so we can put the seeds that will create the Campus Ambassadors in England. I see this being a 'flexible program' that can be based around a university or even a city - for example the Bristol Ambassador

It's not 'determined' yet. Nothing is arranged in stone. The board should discuss.

Wikipedian in Residence

WittyLama user is a great ambassador to Wikimedia at the British Museum earlier this summer. This has led to the WIKI GLAM Conference we held 26/27 November. There is absolutely no reason why we can not create a Wikipedian in Residence program in/or around a major content donor in Bristol. Once we get approval & amp; details. 82.32.41.7 (talk) 11:49, 28 November 2010 (UTC) Sorry -forgot to Login - I am the User mentioned above !!! Steve virgin (talk) 11:51, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

I will be there, as the Bristol-based Wikimedian who is not a member of this wikiproek ("Wikimedian" means anyone who contributes to any of the nine Wikimedia projects, so including Wikipedians).
I personally think it would be very useful to occasionally meet in real life. For one thing, I would welcome the opportunity to gossip and share tips (easier to learn some things personally, and it can be a relief to know that others have gone through the same frustrations you have). Perhaps more important reason is the great potential to help Wikimedia projects by connecting with local groups, showing more people how to work with WP. As you can see above, Steve has done a wonderful job of getting people from all sectors interested, and he just needs help to make his project run smoothly. Wikimedia UK, the external body and the article itself can all be useful.
We need to deliver a message from this event to a larger local wikimedian not involved in this wikiproek. What tool is suitable for this? MartinPoulter (talk) 23:07, November 29, 2010 (UTC)
I have posted links on the Wikimedia UK [1] website and filled out a little more detail on [2]. Should this be the official WP: Meetup? It's during the day on weekdays, so people may be only available for lunch slots, but I hope people can stand to discuss Steve's suggestions. If we register it as a meeting, we may place a call with WP: Geonotice. MartinPoulter (talk) 13:43, 3 December 2010 (UTC)

Live Stream event (still in the organizational phase)

As I type this it has not been confirmed, but I am still trying to get this all paid for by the Bristol City Council as part of a sponsorship deal for this event. This means that this event can be shown live to the internet.

In conjunction with this, I also want support from the community for the previous 'day' - I have arranged free coverage of Jimmy talking to the children at Bristol Cathedral school - this recording is important for media & I want to help in spreading it through social media ABOVE Wikinews... maybe if we can get it on Wikinews minutes after taken... all the social media links we all tweet can lead people back to Wikinews? Point of something like this - to bring an even larger audience online for live streaming events. It would also be cool if the interested press should use the recording of WE and not their own.

This is not 100% confirmed. I put my mind here so we can discuss, change, agree - agree to help. Steve virgin (talk) 23:09, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

Should we make Wikipedia: Meetup/Bristol_2 be blue and maybe nudge Mike Peel about setting up geonotice? SmartSE (talk) 14:09, January 6, 2011 (UTC)

I think we can name the meeting event 2 - but all the places to see his lecture on the DAS have now disappeared, so it may lead to disappointment - whether to link to a webcast - does anyone know the URL? I'm going to the DAS by 09.30 & amp; happy to help put up posters etc. - but I'm not sure how much Steve felt can attend this - with the expected press.-- Rod talk 15:31, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
It might be a bit late now to publish it meaningfully on Wikipedia: Meetup/Bristol_2. Unfortunately, taking time for this will not be possible for me. However, if regular meetings persist, I hope to be present in the future. Anyway, I hope everything goes to plan the Jimmy Wales talk. --trevj (talk) 15:59, January 10, 2011 (UTC)

Really sorry for dithering at the meeting. Agree is too late to publish widely, but I still hope that some of you are ready to survive. Since some of us take a day off, I suggest we meet at Watershed (1.30 onwards) and I will buy you (donor of any) drink at least. MartinPoulter (talk) 13:44, January 12, 2011 (UTC)
Sorry, I'm a bit confused. What happened to 1.30 different from what happened at 9.30? (I'll try and get there with 10ish btw.) Ghmyrtle (talk) 14:22, January 12, 2011 (UTC)
Sorry for the confusion. From 9.30 am, Jimbo will be at Watershed (Waterside 1; a room on the far side of the bar) and it would be great to have some Wikipedians there. Every minute is booked tightly, but there is a short slot (9.30 right) so he thanks the WP volunteers. Then was a public lecture in the Victorian Chamber (up to the building for 11.30) and I advise, since the morning will no doubt be very rushed, a more relaxed encounter between us after the lecture as well. Hopefully this clarification, MartinPoulter (talk) 14:29, January 12, 2011 (UTC)
OK, I will follow the flow. (A rare visit to Bristol city center for me, and I have to go shopping some time!) Ghmyrtle (talk) 14:41, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

At the DAS meeting, we discussed several plans for local coverage. I have created a page on Wikipedia: WikiProject_Bristol/Local_outreach where it is easy to see. Repairs accepted! MartinPoulter (talk) 15:40, January 20, 2011 (UTC) (fixed link MartinPoulter (talk) 11:32, January 29, 2011 (UTC))

Bristol Wikimedia Academy

There is a one-day free event organized jointly by Wikimedia UK and University of Bristol within a week, in which some Wikiproject members will be present. I hope this will be the first of a series of events that bring together local Wikipedia/Wikimedia contributors, interested parties and local or national organizations or groups who may be interested in some sort of partnership. If this happens, I hope to involve more members of this wikiproek.

All received at the event: just send a request by email to my address (by invitation), and please pass this on to anyone who might benefit. I'm sure there will be a social drink after that. Steve Virgin has invited various parts of Bristol University, the City Council and other local groups and agencies, but there may be groups we've missed. List of churches in Bristol

Someone might want to see a list of churches in Bristol. Some churches have just been added] by IP. IP is definitely not an expert in wiki markup so some help in the area can help. I do not know anything about the subject itself so I think it might be good to ask here. Does anyone like to be friendly to newcomers?

Summer placement for Bristol University students

As part of their ongoing partnership, the University of Bristol and Wikimedia UK have created a summer post for Wikimedia Outreach Ambassadors, open to returning students from the University of Bristol. This is a pioneering step by the university, and there are many possible benefits to Wikipedia, including improving articles on local interests. Follow the link for more details. Find a Wikipedian for Summer placement

In the summer of 2011, Wikimedia UK and ARKive worked together on the project to increase the Wikipedia coverage of endangered species. This will involve the recruitment of a permanent role in the residence we call Wikipedia Outreach Ambassadors. It will be a volunteer, with access to desk space at the ARKive office in Bristol and with travel and subsistence supported by Wikimedia UK. Their role will require on-wiki activity and engage the wider community through online and offline events. If you can attend a meeting at Bristol, and are interested in wildlife and free knowledge, please visit the project page for more details.

I hope you do not mind this message here: not Bristol-article-relevant but certainly appealing to Bristol-based editors. MartinPoulter (talk) 12:34, June 19, 2011 (UTC)

Conversion OSGB36 (OS grid refs) to coord on various lists

I have started discussions about changing OSGB36 (OS grid refs) on various lists including a Class I listed building in Bristol to use Template: Coord, as I think it offers benefits to users around the world (who may not be familiar with OS systems) and use Templates: GeoGroupTemplate to enable mapping on googlemaps, etc. I've been told that bots can be assigned to do this, but this will be a significant change and do not want to do it without consensus. Hello all. March is the Women's History Month and I hope some people here at WP: Bristol will be interested to hold an event (on and off wiki) related to the role of women in the history, society and culture of Bristol. Open Geodata for Bristol

Hi everyone, I have compiled some links and notes on the Wikimedia UK site here about Open GeoData. I tried to integrate the geodata audit created in and around the city, selecting Bristol as an example. I hope we can collect open content project networks, developers, and public bodies to raise awareness about what can be done with open geodes, to make the public create more data through tools such as the Wikimedia project, and possibly generate collaborative projects and offers for funding.

I have highlighted the work done by Wikiproject this, of course. What I can do with help is with 1) other local geodata sources, whether open or interesting proprietary things that can be replicated with open data, or 2) photos and geodata screenshots actually used, where there are some connections with Bristol. Bristol is well advanced in this field, partly thanks to your work, and it would be great to make it more visible as a world leader for this kind of technology. Any help received, MartinPoulter (talk) 14:58, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, but post here to request the picture completely accordingly. Archiving of this post is not, I think. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:39, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

Sorry if it does not seem to be in order, and I agree that posting a request here for the image is appropriate. However, what's not so useful is to post similar requests in more than one place, which can easily lead to a forked discussion. WP: CONLIMITED refers to not specifying consensus through WikiProjects. I tried to avoid both. If you think it's better to discuss here, then please reopen the discussion but it's not the usual way of doing things, and other people can close again. Personally, I tend to try to start discussions in the most relevant places directly and then use {{Pls}} to direct other interested parties there. No hard feelings, I hope. Applause. - Trevj (talk) 07:31, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
You're right. Taking into consideration that the copyright status of the image may lead to discussion, of course it is best to have one post. I did not anticipate it then. Sorry for being quick. I just came out of a bit of a battle last week, and I'm a bit sensitive. My most humble apology to you, my friend. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:54, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

Please help Bristol get ready to start Wiki Loves Monuments competition on September 1st

In September the UK took part for the first time in the international photography competition Wiki Loves Monuments. Participants will be invited to submit images of registered buildings of vital importance (grades I or class II *), as recorded by English Heritage. The main external web sites for competitors can be found here, and you can leave messages there if you have questions about the competition. Please join, and let people in your area know this excellent way, where existing and new Wiki users can help improve the encyclopaedia by donating photos of local registered structures. What about setting up a local Wikimeet to attract new people?

In preparation for the start of the competition on September 1 (and beyond) there is still some work to be done, and we would like to ask the help of this wikiproek member. Your local knowledge and expertise will be valuable to ensure that the list of eligible buildings is updated and properly formatted. If you see a Listed building in the UK, you'll see how many structures are included. If you then follow a link to a Registered building in the UK, you can get a detailed list for your region. Or look at the WLM planning table. Can you help ensure that the list for your region has been updated and presented well?

Some lists have been generated semi-automatically from the data provided by English Heritage. This uses preformatted templates (such as EH headers) that will make it easier for competitors to upload their photos to Commons as an automated process. Please do not change the template structure, as we need to make sure that the template is completely compatible with the WLM standards used worldwide. This format will allow bots to automatically collect information and put it into the International Monument Database.

Data still needs local editor's attention:

  • "Title" may need to be wikilinking to the appropriate article name (whether we currently have the article). If there are multiple buildings on one street, all the wikilinks point in an article about the path; but each entry has a separate row in the list.
  • The "location" column is visible and better if only parishes or cities are included (& amp; wikilinked).
  • The "end date" column is sometimes "C19" for the nineteenth century, and "C1850" for c. 1850 when the date is uncertain - this needs to be corrected manually.
  • "ref grid & amp; lat & amp; long" (which is sometimes missing) can be assigned to 8 characters - only 6 (ref grid) or 5 (length & length) are really needed.
  • Clicking on "list entry numbers" will take you to the datasheets for those entries in the English Heritage database which can be checked if needed for details.
  • The image column should have an image added if we already have the appropriate image in Commons. ( N.B. if you will be taking your own photos for inclusion in the competition, do not upload them until September)
  • References may be added in accordance with normal WP practices.

For more information, please see Commons: Wiki Loves Monuments 2013 in the UK.

If you have any questions, please post them not below but on the Organizer's help page in Commons.

Anything you can do to help improve this list will be greatly appreciated.

Popular page tool updates

Starting January, the popular page tool has been moved from Toolserver to Wikimedia Tool Labs. The code has changed significantly from the Toolserver version, but the user should pay attention to some differences. Please take a moment to view your project list for each anomaly, such as pages you expect to see missing or pages that seem to have more views than expected. Note that unlike other tools, this tool collects all views from redirects, which means it usually has a higher number. (For January 2014 specifically, 35 hours of data is lost from WMF data, which is expected from other dates For most articles, this should produce more accurate numbers, however some articles, as shown on the Main Page, may be dead).

The web tools, to replace those in the tool: ~ alexz/pop, will be available for the next few weeks in toollabs: popularpages. All historical data (back to July 2009 for some projects) has been copied. Tools for viewing historical data are currently partly available (assessment data and some projects may not be available at this time). Tools for adding new projects to the bots list are also available now (edit current project configuration coming soon). Unlike previous tools, all changes will be effective immediately. OAuth is used to authenticate users, so only ordinary users can make changes to prevent abuse. Visible history of adding configuration and changes will be coming soon. Once the tool becomes fully available, their server version will be redirected to Labs.

If you have any questions, want to report any bugs, or there are features you want to see that are not currently available in the Toolserver tool, see the updated FAQ or contact me on my talk page. Mr.Z-bot (speech) (for Mr. Z - man ) 04:56, February 23, 2014 (UTC)
