Honda Fit ( Japan: ???????? , Honda Fitto ) , also marketed as Honda Jazz ( Japan: ??????? , Honda Jazu ) , is a five-door, front-engine, front-wheel drive subcompact B-car manufactured and marketed by Honda since 2001 and now in third generation. Marketed worldwide and manufactured in ten plants in eight countries, sales reach nearly 5 million by mid-2013.
Sharing Honda's small global car platform with City, Airwave, Mobilio, Mobilio Spike, Freed, and Freed Spike, Fit is known as a one-box or monospace with an interior design concept that achieves a reconfigurable cargo volume that is competitive with larger vehicles.
Honda released a hybrid-electric Fit gasoline version in Japan in October 2010 and in Europe in early 2011. Honda released Fit EV, limited production of electric versions, in the United States in July 2012 and in Japan the following month. In 2012, Honda Fit is produced in 12 countries, including Japan, Brazil, China, India, and Indonesia.
Honda uses the name "Jazz" in Europe, Oceania, Middle East, Africa, and most of Asia - and the name "Fit" in Japan, Sri Lanka, China, Taiwan and America.

Seri GD Generasi Pertama, GD1/2/3/4 (2001-2008)
Honda Fit debuted in June 2001 in Japan and soon became a big hit. In his introduction in 2001, he won the Japanese Car Award of the Year. By December 2001, Toyota had exceeded the Toyota Corolla, and was ranked first in sales for nine of the twelve months of 2002. It was introduced in Europe (early 2002), Australia (late 2002), South America (early 2003), South Africa and Southeast Asia (2003), China (Sep 2004), and Mexico (end 2005).
The Fit fuel tank under the front seat and the compact rear suspension has allowed the backseat to fold very low, creating a flexible and regular cargo volume that is great for its class.

The production model for the United States and Canada debuted on January 8, 2006 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The car was released in Canada on April 3, 2006, and in the US on April 20, 2006 as a model car of 2007. In the North American market, the first-generation Fit was replaced after only two years model with the new 2009 model, which was released for Japan in November 2007 as model 2008. The next iteration will maintain the same platform worldwide.
- Models
The first generation Fit is sold in 6 variations while its sister City/Fit Aria sedan is sold in 4 variations.
All first generation Fit/Jazz models around the world use the following different codes, found in vehicle identification numbers (VIN):
Fit/Jazz
- GD1: 1.3 L L13A i-DSI Inline-4 Engine 2WD (Europe: 1.4Ã, L)
- GD2: 1.3 L L13A i-DSI Four channel 4WD engine (Japanese only)
- GD3: 1.5 L L15A VTEC 4 engine line 2WD
- GD4: 1.5 L L15A VTEC Four channel 4WD engine (Japan only)
- GD5: 1.2 L L12A Fourth (European) Machines
- GE3: 1.3 L L13A i-DSI Inline-four engine 2WD (European European model 1.4A L. Chinese-made)
Drivetrain and platform
Depending on its territory, Fit is available with 1,2-, 1,3- (in Europe referred to as L1 models), 1.5 liter i-DSI engine, or 1.5 liter VTEC engine. These four machines are based on the Honda L-series family of machines. The eight-valve i-DSI (double intelligent and sequential) engines use two spark plugs per cylinder, allowing gasoline to burn more fully; therefore, fuel consumption and emissions decrease while maximum torque at mid-range rpm is maintained. The 1.5L VTEC engine has a 16-valve configuration that maximizes output at high rpm.
Honda Fit's L-series engine also provides casting and reciprocating mass for outboard motors 75 and 90 horsepower Honda (67 kW), BF75 and BF90.
The engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission, five-speed automatic, and continuously variable transmission (CVT), depending on the region (CVT is not offered in the US before 2015). Two forms of CVT are offered: the usual, and CVT-7. The CVT-7 offers smooth and smooth flow of power, or seven "gear" simulations controlled by the paddle shifter on the steering column.
Fit uses the Global Small Car Honda platform, which is also used by Fit Aria/City (Fit sedan version), Airwave (station wagon version of Fit Aria/City), Mobilio, and Mobilio Spike.
The concept of interior packaging
Fit center fuel tank locations on the front instead of the rear seats - combined with a compact, semi-independent, H-shaped torsion beam rear suspension allow for lower load platforms and larger cargo volumes. Be noted for "the utmost interior space utilization and maximum flexibility for people or cargo," Fit offers about twice the storage space behind its back seat compared to the Toyota Yaris hatchback.
Ultra Seat: The fuel tank and rear suspension layout also enable a multi-mode seating system, marketed by Honda as Ultra Seat (Asia) and Magic Seat (North America, Oceania), with four seating modes - and one fifth in a particular market:
- Normal: seating in a normal position with seating for five.
- Utility: Either the part (or both) of 60:40 rear seats split fold and lower down to itself, creating a flat load surface and increasing the cargo area.
- Length: The rear seat behind the passenger folds down similar to utility mode, but the front passenger seat folds backward, leaving an area that can hold a 2.4 meter (7.9 feet) item.
- Height: One part (or both) of the rear seat cushion folds behind the rear seat, allowing for a height of 1.28 meters (4.2 feet).
- Refresh: With the headrest from the front seat removed, the frontrest can be folded down to form a lounge-style seating area. (available in select markets)
According to Fit's chief technician Kohei Hitomi, the design of the Magic/Ultra seats system "came after the design team spent countless hours watching people in the supermarket and how they were storing their belongings."
Ultra Baggage: In certain markets, Honda offers Fit/Jazz without spare tires, a system that is marketed as Ultra Luggage, where spare tires are well used as part of the 'High' mode cargo area behind the rear seat. The flexible flap allows three rear storage configurations: Regular, High and Up/Down.
Production
The first generation fit was produced in six locations, in Suzuka, Japan; Sumarà © à ©, Brazil; Guangzhou, China; Ayutthaya, Thailand; Karawang, Indonesia; and Laguna, Philippines. Models produced in Japan are for Honda, Europe, some Asian markets, Australia (until late 2005), Canada and USA markets. Models for the Malaysian, Singaporean and Vietnamese markets are produced in Thailand. The Brazil plant supplies Mexico, all Latin America and the Caribbean. Chinese models are sold in mainland China, and products from specialized export factories are exported to European markets in the left market, while Jazz models in Hong Kong are imported from Japan.
- Japan
Two engines (1.3 i-DSI and 1.5 VTEC) are offered, each with a number of slimlines ranging from basic "Y" to sporty "S". 1.3Ã, L i-DSI is only available with regular auto CVT. The Model 1.5Ã, L VTEC with CVT-7 was added in September 2002. A five-speed manual was added in June 2004 for FWD models with larger engines. Unique to the Japanese market, Fit is also available in 4WD. Starting at a price around JPY1,123,000 is the basic 1.3Y model. At the top of the range is a 1.5W four-wheel-drive version for JPY1,736,000. Confusing options and accessories are available at most levels, including the Honda HDD Navigation GPS System called Internavi with a 6.5 inch color screen (170 mm). This system combines radio TV and FM. In Japan, Fit replaced the market segment previously served by the Honda Civic and shared the platform with Honda City when the Civic no longer obeyed the Japanese Government dimensions regulations when the Civic exceeded the 1700mm wide dimension.
- Europe
Like Japan, the European market also has two engines available. Only 1.2 I-DSI Europe is offered as a base model in many countries, and can be purchased only with a five-speed manual transmission. The 1,4 i-DSI is identical to 1,339 cc 1.3 i-dsi sold in Japan, but it is marketed as 1.4Ã,à L to differentiate it from smaller 1.2à ¢, L engines (at 1.244Ã, cc, closer to 1.3Ã, L of the larger is 1.4Ã, L). The L1 model starts with a 5-speed manual standard and CVT-7 is available as an option.
All European models have an Anti-lock (ABS) braking system with disc brakes on the front wheels and drum brakes or disc brakes on the back. Standard side airbags on some high end models.
This car has a good reputation in Europe with the largest automotive survey in the UK, conducted by Top Gear automotive event, reveals that Honda Jazz is the second best vehicle on the UK highway (after Honda S2000), selected by British car owners in 2006. The popularity of Jazz has made it the best-selling Honda model in the region, which accounts for 30% of all Honda's European sales. Top Gear also states that the Honda Jazz (and Toyota Yaris) are closest to the reality cars money can buy, meaning that the Honda Jazz can cover most of the automotive needs of today's people.
- China
The local production and sales of Fit (Hatchback) in China began in September 2004, approximately one year after the launch of the 'Fit saloon' (City/Fit Aria) sedan in September 2003. Thanks are similar to those in Japan; with a combination of 1.3 i-dsi, 1.5 VTEC, five-speed manual, and CVT, there are four models in total.
- United States and Canada
Fit went on sale in the United States and Canada in April 2006 for the 2007 model, replacing the Civic hatchback for North America and becoming a major entry-level subcompact market. The Civic continues to grow in size and price and has been reclassified as compact (larger than subcompact) in 2001.
In accordance with Honda's safety initiatives, Fit is offered in North America with power windows, standard side airbags, side-curtain airbags and ABS, in addition to mandatory front airbags. Due to different safety regulations, North American Fits have larger bumpers, and longer front clips, than any other part of the world, result in a slight increase in overall length.
For the 2008 model, the US model features a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) to alert low-pressure drivers in one of the four stock wheels. Unlike some systems, the system in 2008 Fit told the driver that the tires were low, but not the tires. The Fit barely qualified for a $ 1,000 Canadian government rebate, which is only offered for cars that meet the new federal fuel efficiency ratings. Honda Canada Inc. decided to indemnify consumers for 2007, and revisions to the federal rankings allow Fit 2008 to qualify for a $ 1,000 deduction.
Fit is offered in two variants in the United States (Base and Sport), and three in Canada (DX, LX and Sport). The differences are mainly limited to cosmetics and standard equipment, since all models share the same 1.5Ã, L 109Ã, hp (81Ã, kW) and standard five-speed manual transmission. The conventional five-speed automatic transmission is optional, rather than CVT automatically found worldwide. Fit Sport receives a paddle shifter mounted behind the wheel when ordered automatically.
For 2006, 27,934 Fits were sold in the United States. A total of 56,432 Fits were sold in the United States in 2007.
The 2008 Honda Fit is largely unchanged from 2007 with the exception of the TPMS and new windshield wipers that leave the design of a large rubber blade for a more traditional rigid plastic with a thin rubber blade design. MSRP also increased about US $ 100. Total sales in the United States for the year was 79.794, an increase of almost 41% over the previous year.
Reception
Honda marketed Fit as "Small is the New Big". Car and Driver magazine illustrates that "[n] ot only it is endowed with an impressive set of standard features and upscale interiors, but its dynamics rival the car's response with its many luxury pedigrees and price tags." The magazine even cites its speed number changed by 71.4 mph with the best speed by the Ferrari F430 Spider F1 tested. And the car is included in the Best Car and Driver List 10 times for three times. In May 2006, Fit placed first in the Car and Driver seven cars of the economy including Nissan Versa and Toyota Yaris. Consumer Guide says in its review, "Although the price looks steep for a subcompact (compared to the Toyota Yaris and Nissan Versa), it's one name and the size of the exterior only; it's really a small cart that challenges some Compact SUV for the room while getting significantly better fuel savings ".
- Mexico
Fit, sourced from Brazil, was launched in October 2005. The current Fit (2014) is made in Mexico.
- Brazil
Honda started local production and Fit sales in April 2003 when Brazil became the second production base, after Japan, for Fit. In Brazil, although initially only available with 1.3L i-DSI engine, Fit finally has the same engine as the Japanese model (all Brazilian Honda cars have engines imported from Japan) and there are three trim levels available. The basic LX model has a 1.35 i-DSI engine (which is marketed 1.4 in Brazil) and driver side airbags. The second model in the range, LXL, features the same engine of the LX, but adds some additional equipment: passenger side airbags and ABS. The EX top model basically has the same equipment as LXL, but it comes with 1.5 VTEC engine. All models are available with a five-speed manual or regular CVT regular. No side airbags or side curtains are available for the Brazilian version. Also, the radio antenna is positioned differently, as it is near the front of the roof. Honda started selling the 2007 model in February 2006 with new bumper and some cosmetic changes.
Alcohol (ethanol) and gasoline hybrids Fit: Honda Brazil began sales in mid-December 2006, only for 1.35 i-dsi. 80 hp (60 kW) at 100% gasoline and 83 hp (62 kW) in 100% alcohol. It also works with an intermediate mix rate. There is an additional gasoline fuel tank on the right side under the triangle window to start the low temperature.
Honda Fit was awarded by Quatro Rodas as Best Buy in 2005 and 2006, and was the happiest car in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.
- South Africa
Launched in 2003, it was sold as Jazz in South Africa. It is available with 1.3 i-DSI engines (badged as a 1.4) or 1.5 VTEC both offered with manual or CVT (automatic) transmissions.
- Chile
All Honda Fits sold in Chile were built in Brazil, except for some models in early 2004. Until 2007, all three Brazilian trim trims are available LX, LXL and EX, with a five-speed manual transmission or an automatic CVT, but for the 2008 model, the VTEC 1.5 engine -liter 16-valve is no longer available, while Brazil LXL, with 8-valve 8-valve i-DSI engine, sold as EX.
No alcohol-powered machine is available in Chile.
- Australia
The Jazz/Fit bid in Australia follows, to some extent, the Japanese version (excluding the 4WD model), and was released in Australia in October 2002.
The basic model of GLi is powered by a 1.34 liter i-DSI engine, and includes air conditioning, CD player, two front airbags, ABS brakes, EBD, travel computers, remote central locking, transponder immobilizer codes, power steering, windows and mirrors. Standard is a five-speed manual gearbox, with optional additional CVT auto.
The VTi adds a 1.5-liter VTEC engine, sports trim, and side turning turn indicator. Optional is a 7-speed version of CVT auto with Formula 1-inspired gear shift shift on the steering wheel; VTi-S has a "sport" body kit, fog lamps, and 15-inch (380 mm) alloy wheels.
A "dot" on "J" in the Jazz on the back of the first generation model indicates whether it is powered by a 1.5 or 1.3 liter engine. The 1.5 liter version (VTi) has a blue dot and 1.3 liters version (GLi) has a red dot. The second generation model can be distinguished by presence (VTi) or absence (GLi) from the audio controls on the steering wheel. Body kit for VTi-S has changed since it was introduced in 2003. The picture on the right illustrates the difference. The white VTi-S jazz in the middle is a December 2003 model, while the silver Jazz left is the 2004 VTi with optional bodykit, the right silver Jazz is the 2004 VTi-S model.
Since its introduction to Australia, Jazz has been imported from Japan. However, in late 2005, Honda Australia began importing Jazz from Thailand. The cheaper production cost allowed Honda to make significant price cuts across the entire Jazz range, although its color range has been reduced to six (compared to 12 in Japan).
In 2006, Honda Jazz Australia received a small cosmetic facelift. At this stage, a free trade agreement between Australia and Thailand produces all Australian Honda Jazz models made at the Thai factory. The travel models and variants remain the same, excluding cosmetic changes.
All models are upgraded to LED tail lights as standard and also the 1.3 G Gli Jazz model has an antenna mounted in front just above the windshield.
Engine and body VTi 1.5Ã, L remains the same as the antenna antenna that can be folded on the rear roof. The CVT paddle shift system is changed to make it easier to use. Paddle system down the gear on the left and go up on the right. The previous model had a shifter for both riding at 3 and 9 am.
VTi-S is mechanically similar to VTi but has a sports kit body. In addition, the smoked LED tail lights provide a more 'sporty' look.
- Malaysia
The Malaysian version is available in two variants, 1.5 i-dsi and 1.5 VTEC. Both are equipped with CVT-7 and is a front-wheel drive. No manual transmission is offered. Unlike the Australian market, which has different trims for Jazz for example, (GLi (Basic Model with 1.3 motors), VTi (1.5 VTEC motors without Bodykit) and VTi-S (Bodykit Sports Model)), Jazz model Malaysia also 1.3 iDSi or 1.5 VTEC. The current selection is 1.4 iDSi and 1.5 VTEC. The VTEC model is equipped with Honda Modulo Bodykit.
Standard equipment in both models includes air conditioning, driver and front passenger air bag, CD/radio head unit, ABS brake, EBD, travel computer, central locking, power assist window, electric powered side mirror, power-assisted steering, halogen headlamp reflectors, and folding chairs. Optional additions can be purchased from Honda Dealers/Service Centers across Malaysia at retail prices. The three-year warranty is standard for all Jazz models purchased from authorized Honda dealers in Malaysia.
Originally Jazz was sold as a CBU model (fully imported from Japan). Variants include 1.3 iDSi and 1.5 VTEC models. Furthermore, Malaysia receives units built in Thailand. The main difference and most striking is the rear disc brakes. Japanese models include rear drum brakes.
In early 2006, the Jazz underwent a facelift (introduced earlier in Japan). New versions include new front fascia and bumper, new rear bumper, new side skirts, side-mirror-mounted indicator/turn signal, LED rear brake lights, third LED rear brake lights, colored body headlights and minor interior changes. The motor remains unchanged.
- Singapore

Second Generation GE Series, GE6/7/8/9 (2009-2014)
Fit second generation debuted on October 17, 2007 at the Tokyo Motor Show. On his introduction in 2007, he won the Car of the Year Japan Award for the second time. This vehicle offers a longer wheelbase than its predecessor and is wider and longer overall. The overall height has not changed, while the interior height has increased by 0.3 inches. Configuration of multi-mode seating and cargo is maintained (US models no longer able to Refresh/Relax Mode until the following genes), with redesigned headrests allowing for more comfortable folding of the rear seats. The cabin displays larger interior volumes, and the boot capacity decreases from 21.3 to 20.6 cubic feet (0.58 m 3 ).
Two engines are offered in second generation Fit. A 1.3 liter (79 à ° c) i-VTEC produces 98 hp (73 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 98 lbf? Ft (133Ã, N? M) at 4,500 rpm. This machine is offered in European and Asian markets. The 1.5 liter (92 à ° c) i-VTEC engine is also offered and generates a maximum output of 117 hp (87 kW) at 6,600 rpm and 106 lbf? Ft (144Ã, N? M) at 4800 rpm. This is the only machine available in the American market. Available five-speed manual transmission, five-speed automatic (only 4WD) and CVT.
The chassis was reengineered, with structural rigidity increasing 164 percent compared to the first-generation Fit.
"We are very aware that its predecessor is a bit strong, so we spend a lot of time fixing it, but we're sure we've got it now."
Fit second generation featuring improved driving and handling.
In 2012, Honda Fit is produced in 12 countries, including Japan, Brazil, China, India and Indonesia.
Fit Hybrid (2010)
Hybrid Fit sales began in Japan in October 2010. The hybrid version starts at Ã, à ¥ 1,59 million (about US $ 20,000 ), the lowest price for hybrid gasoline-electric vehicles sold in Japan. The Fit Hybrid features a 1.3-liter engine and an electric motor, with an estimated 3.3 liter fuel economy per 100 kilometers (86 mpg -imp ; 71 mpg -US ) measured according to the Japanese 10-15 cycle. The car uses a parallel hybrid system that works in conjunction with a gasoline engine. The parallel hybrid system is simple and lightweight while improving driving performance and fuel economy.
The European version, called the Jazz Hybrid, was launched at the Paris Motor Show 2010 and is available in early 2011. Honda Fit/Jazz for European and Japanese markets featuring revised headlights, new front grille, leather seating options and new lime Color options green exterior. The fuel economy estimated to be in line with European standards is about 65 miles per gallon of imperial (4.3 L/100 km, 54 mpg -US ) and CO 2 emissions 104 g/km. It has the lowest carbon emissions from automated cars in the B-segment. When the car is driven in low speed and stable, the car switches to EV mode and releases carbon emissions: the engine is turned off and the car is powered only by an electric motor.
The Integrated Integral Power Unit (IPU) is located beneath the rear cargo area, the Jazz Hybrid maintains fully customizable seating configurations as a gasoline-powered model and the same wide area for optimum utilization and storage. With a fuel tank placed in the middle plus an ultra-thin electric motor and a compact IPU, it claims to achieve an efficient weight distribution.
In an interview, Kohei Hitomi, leader of the Fit hybrid project, acknowledges that lowering CO 2 will further affect some attributes that buyers value cars: larger electric motors and battery-sacrificing utilities, and improved aerodynamics may make Smaller side glass. He said there are benefits for customers to keep all the versatility. Drivetrain is the same drive system as Honda Insight. The advantages of this system are low cost, low weight and can be combined with manual transmission or continuous variable transmission. This car is more suitable than its diesel competitor in the area where the most common superminis are: the city center. This is more economical in urban conditions. Thanks to the instant torque of the electric motor, this motor has a much better engine response.
The hybrid version is not available in the US. According to Koichi Kondo, Executive Vice President of Honda:
- "For the future, open to question, we will carefully monitor the market situation."
Hitomi, as reported by Automotive News, believes that the second-generation Fit offered in the North American market has such excellent fuel mileage and is questioned if buyers are willing to pay extra for marginal mileage benefits.
Reported about 86,000 Fit Hybrid sold in 2011.
In Malaysia , the Fit hybrid is called Jazz hybrid . Honda introduced hybrid models to Malaysia in March 2012. Honda has planned to produce Jazz hybrids in Malaysia by the end of 2012. Honda is the largest hybrid vehicle salesman in Malaysia in 2011 and by 2012 Malaysia is the largest hybrid vehicle market in Southeast Asia. Asia.
It was reported that Honda will introduce Fit hybrid to China during 2012.

The car launch in June 2011 was pushed back from March as a result of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan on March 11, 2011. Automobile production was moved from the Sayama Honda plant in Saitama Prefecture to Suzuka factory in Mie Prefecture as a result of power rationing after the earthquake. Production began in early May 2011. The Fit Shuttle was selected for Car of The Year Japan 2012.
His drivetrains are shared with Fit. Fit Shuttle has a 1.5 L i-VTEC engine with 120 hp (89 kW), which is optional in Japanese Fit. The hybrid version, the Fit Shuttle hybrid, is also available, with a 1.3 L i-VTEC engine with IMA. Continuously variable transmission is the only transmission available for the FWD model. The five-speed automatic transmission is standard on four-wheel-drive models.
The fuel efficiency of the station wagon and its hybrid variants is enhanced to match the Fit and Fit hybrid by reducing engine friction, front brake resistance, improved aerodynamics and improved control efficiency of the hybrid system. All models display ECON Mode to improve real-world fuel economy. The hybrid model has an Eco Assist (Ecological Drive Assist System) to help drivers engage in fuel-efficient driving practices. It went on sale on June 16, 2011, in Japan.

Marketing
In April 2006, Honda Australia began promoting Honda Jazz with Village Green, an animated television commercial, in 30 seconds and 60 second versions. The 60 second ad was inspired by Thomas the Tank Engine. The campaign was developed by Foote Cone Belding Melbourne, by creative director/art director Scott Lambert, copywriter Mark Ringer and producer Mandi Wright. This animated ad was directed by Michael Cusack at Anifex, with director of photography/producer Richard Chataway.
In April 2006, Honda America and its advertising agency, RPA launched a new small car, the Honda Fit, with six TV commercials five five seconds and twenty-three, with the slogan 'The Fit Is Go'. This ad only runs for a while as demand quickly outstrips supply.
In September 2008, RPA (Rubin Postaer and Associates) announced it has started a national advertising campaign for Honda Fit, starting September 29. List of ads including "Mecha-Mosquitoes," (break 9/21) "Defense Mechanism" (break) 10/2) and "Bats" (break 9/28), produced by Digital Domain. The campaign continues the slogan 'The Fit Is Go'.
Fit EV
Concept vehicle
Honda Fit EV concept electric car has a global debut at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. This concept uses a motor that comes from a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle FCX Clarity which, in the mode of sport, gives the feel of driving a car with a 2-liter gasoline/gasoline engine. The vehicle is paired with an exclusive interactive key fob that allows the driver to see the battery charging status, initiate charging, and activate all vehicle climate controls without a cell phone or Internet connection. These vehicles can also be paired with mobile apps and websites that allow drivers to set up a vehicle filling schedule for the best utility tariffs, place a charging station and provide roadside assistance 24/7.
Program demonstration
Honda started the Electric Vehicle Testing Program in the cities of Saitama, Kumagaya and Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture, and Amakusa area, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, for next-generation personal mobility products, including Fit EV in December 2010.
A demonstration program with pre-production vehicles began in Guangzhou, China in early November 2011. Another program, called the Honda Electric Vehicle Demonstration Program, takes place in California, in partnership with Stanford University, the city of Torrance and Google. Electric vehicles join Google GFleet, car sharing service for employees. Stanford uses electric vehicles to study the differences in psychological and physical reactions using electric-battery vehicles and driving a traditional gasoline-powered vehicle.
Demonstrators EV EV first 2013 delivered to the city of Torrance in January 2012. Stanford and Google received their demonstrators in February 2012.
Production model
The 2013 Fit EV production model was launched at the Los Angeles Show in November 2011. Vehicles for the US market are limited to 1,100 units by October 2014. Honda started shipping the Fit EV in the United States in July 2012, and the car is available only through rent at a price US $ 389 per month for three years, based on base price US $ 36,625 , and then monthly rental payments reduced to US $ 259 for all applicable customers starting June 2013. Initial availability is limited in California and Oregon, and sales are scheduled to begin in select markets in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland, New York and New Jersey in late February 2013. Certified dealers for Fit EV increased from 36 to 200 on mid-2013. Fit EV released via leasing to local governments and corporate customers in Japan in August 2012. Availability in Japan is limited to 200 units over two years per first.
The car is based on the Fit compact car platform, powered by a lithium-ion battery combined with synchronous air-conditioning, permanent magnet coaxial traction motors and a low friction reducing gearbox borrowed from the Honda FCX Clarity hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. Honda says the Fit EV concept has an all-electric range of 70 to 100 miles (110 to 160 km) and a top speed of 90 miles per hour (140 km/h). Honda also said that the refilling of the EV Fit will take 12 hours from a 120 volt outlet and four hours with a 240 volt supply.
The official range of the United States Environmental Protection Agency is 82 miles (132 km) and the agency assesses Fit EV's combined fuel economy at 118 miles per gallon of gas equivalent (2.0 L/100 km), at that time, the highest of any electricity cars available in the US market, topping the Mitsubishi i MiEV, rated with a combined 112 MPGe (2.1 L/100 km). Fit EV has been exceeded in December 2012 by Scion iQ EV, two seats, with a combined rating of 121 MPGe. Energy consumption is 29 kW/hour per 100 miles, and the fuel economy rating for city driving is 132 MPGe (1.8 L/100 km) and 105 MPGe (2.2 L/100 km) for toll roads. Under the Japanese JC08 test, the EV Fit achieved the best current level of energy consumption at 106 Wh/km and a range of 225 km (140 mi). Fit EV uses a rechargeable Toshiba SCiB battery up to 80% capacity in 15 minutes and can be recharged up to 4,000 times, more than 2.5 times from other Li-ion batteries. The battery cell uses lithium titanate oxide at the anode, providing fast charging time and prolong battery life. It also provides stable discharge from very cold (-30 ° C) to high temperatures above 40 ° C. According to Honda, the SCiB battery can charge about half the battery time of Li-ion.
Honda Fit EV, like the Honda CR-Z hybrid, will have three different driving modes: econ, normal, and sport. Honda explained that the "ekon" mode would expand the driving range by 17% compared to the normal mode; in sports mode, the Fit EV mimics the acceleration of a small car with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine. The production version comes with a 20 kWh lithium-ion battery and a 92 kW coaxial electric motor. New electric motor up to 98 percent efficient, in contrast to 15 percent efficiency typical gasoline engine. Honda estimates the range of EV Fit at 123 mi (198 km) to drive in the city, and 76 miles (122 km) to the combined city and highway. The battery can be recharged in four hours from a 240 volt socket.
In July 2014 Honda announced the end of Fit EV production for the 2015 model, along with Honda Insight hybrid and Honda FCX Clarity hydrogen fuel cell car. A total of 1,070 new units were leased in the US until April 2015. In March 2015, Honda offered a two-year lease extension to the existing lessees, as well as to new customers on used cars, at a lower price US $ 199 a month with no down payment. In both cases there is no purchase option at the end of the lease.
