" The Problem " is a song recorded by British recording artist Leona Lewis and American entertainer Childish Gambino for Lewis' third studio album, Glassheart (2012). Inspired by Lewis's breakup with Lou Al-Chamaa's childhood boyfriend, "Trouble" is a mid-tempo racing track R & amp; B and trip hop, with pianos and strings that are controlled by strings. It was written by a collection of English writings comprising Lewis, Donald Glover, Hugo Chegwin, Harry Craze, Shahid Khan, James Murray, Mustafa Omer, Emeli SandÃÆ'à © and Fraser T Smith. Production came Khan propriety under the name of the production of Naughty Boy and Smith, along with co-producer Chris Loco and additional producer Jahlil Beats. Music critics note that urban production marks a new direction for Lewis, especially with Gambino's showcase for eight central destructions of songs with poetic rap poetry. Versions that do not include Gambino are also included in Glassheart .
"Trouble" was also influenced by the British travel duo, Big Massive Attack, which Lewis mentioned as musical inspiration. The performance of falsetto and vocal soprano Lewis on the song earned praise from critics who praised raw emotions, as well as rap Gambino guests and melodic melodic songs and heavy piano production. "Trouble" aired on August 21, 2012 on BBC Radio 1's Breakfast with Scott , ahead of its release as Glassheart ' s lead single, replacing the 2011 single " Collide ", a collaboration with Swedish DJ and record producer Avicii. "Trouble" was released on October 5, 2012, preceding the album for one week, and entered the UK Singles Charts at number seven to ninth of Lewis's nine singles. In Ireland "Trouble" charted at number twenty-one into Lewis's top-thirty singles.
As part of the promotional track, fans were given the opportunity to create their own remix "Trouble" which was released along with singles at Lewis's official music store. An accompanying music video was filmed on August 22 in Los Angeles, with Colton Haynes acting as Lewis's love. Haynes, a friend of Lewis, was chosen because of his physical resemblance to former Lewis Al-Chaama. In the video, Lewis and Haynes's relationship began to unfold and culminated in a fight between the duo before Haynes left and Lewis shed tears. Lewis also recorded acoustic performances from the song for his Vevo account. "Trouble" was promoted with an appearance on the ninth series of The X Factor (UK), on October 7, 2012, then at Alan Carr: Chatty Man and also during a set at the club London night, GAY.

Background and release
Lewis began drafting his third album Glassheart in the second half of 2010, shortly after completing his first headline concert tour, The Labyrinth. "Trouble" was one of the previous songs recorded by Lewis, and one of the few songs Lewis made with the English duo Emeli SandÃÆ'à © and Naughty Boy. Sandà © first conceptualized a loose concept for "Trouble" in 2009. Not until the British hip-hop artist Tinie Tempah started working with SandÃÆ'à © to his own debut album Disc-Overy (2011), which " Difficulty "brought to Lewis; Tempeh approached Lewis to record "Difficulty" as a duet with himself. After hearing the demo, Lewis asked Tempah if he could own the song and then entered the recording studio with SandÃÆ'à © and Fraser T Smith to record and complete the song. SandÃÆ'à © then wrote two more songs for Lewis, including "I to You" and "Sugar". The fourth song, "Mountains", was reclaimed by SandÃÆ'à © and recorded for her debut album Our Version of Events (2012).
With the release date of November 2011 set for Glassheart , Lewis went on to release his first single album "Collide" on July 15, 2011. However, Swedish home music DJ Avicii sued Lewis and Sony Music, claiming that "Collide" is a reproduction of his own instrumental single "Penguin," in which he has sought legal permission to imitate "Perpetuum Mobile" Simon Jeffes. After the out-of-court settlement, "Collide" was released praising Lewis and Avicii. "Collide" reached number one on the US Hot Dance Club Songs chart, number three in Ireland and number four in the United Kingdom. However, Glassheart is pushed to early 2012 to accommodate new recording sessions. During this time Lewis will work with DJ Calvin Harris from Scotland and record a song titled "We Found Love". Harris wants Lewis to release "We Found Love" at the end of 2011, but Lewis and his label have decided "Trouble" will be the second single from Glassheart . During an interview with Digital Spy, Lewis said, "Yes, I think 'Difficulty' will be the second single I can not wait for everyone to hear it I'm really excited about it. After the album was pushed back into mid-2012, and then October 2012, Harris reclaimed "We Found Love", which was recorded by the recorder of Barbados, Rihanna for his album Talk That Talk and became the number one hit across world.
Almost a year later as work for the album is almost complete, Lewis can confirm that "Trouble" will still be the album's second single and will be released in October 2012 next to the album. Between the announcement in 2011 and the release of the song in 2012, Sony Music Entertainment rearranged the operation, which resulted in the closing of J Records and all previously signed artists absorbed into RCA Records. "Trouble" is Lewis's first release in partnership with RCA Records. Sony Music made "Trouble" a global priority, making it replace "Collide" as the lead single of the album and focus on promoting the song in the UK first before its worldwide release. The new version of "Trouble" was recorded to feature American rapper Childish Gambino and aired on radio on August 21, 2012. "Trouble" was played during a press premiere for Tracey Hart of Music Week magazine, along with new songs "Come Alive" and "Un Love Me ". The song is also played for Popjustice twice, first in the early form of last year in 2011 and second in form completed on August 16, 2012. The website notes that the new version of "Problems" sounds more complete and complete with the addition of Gambino verses. "Trouble" aired on BBC Radio 1's Breakfast with Scott on August 21, 2012, ahead of the Irish release on October 5 and the UK release on October 7, 2012. The album was released December 14, 2012 in Germany.

Composition and lyrics
"Trouble" is an R & amp; B and mid-term hop hops written by Lewis and collective British songwriters, including Hugo Chegwin, Harry Craze, Shahid Khan, James Murray, Mustafa Omer, Emeli SandÃÆ'à ©, and Fraser T Smith. This is primarily a hop song R & amp; B and travel, built around strings and piano-driven melodies. Production was performed by Khan under the name of the production of Naughty Boy and Smith, while secondary production was provided by Chris Loco. Orlando "Jahlil Beats" Tucker provides some additional production. A reviewer from Metro notes that the song has a hip hop vibe and a feel for its production. The "problem" is recorded in the A-minor key and is written in a general time-line, set at 104 beats per minute. Sony Music Executive Sonny Thakrar describes Lewis and SandÃÆ'à © together on "Trouble" as "killer chemistry," praising Sandany's "storytelling" and Lewis's "vocal skills" skills. Thakrar, who is also involved with A & amp; R, said that "Trouble" is an "emotional and raw" vocal work from Lewis. Vocals throughout the song are sung in falsetto and soprano Lewis, covering the range E 4-5 . The tone and atmosphere of this song is subtle, with Lewis's vocals taking a "haunting" tone that only broke down during the middle eight when Childish Gambino gave his poetic "po poyme" poem. The "Trouble" featuring Gambino appeared on Glassheart as the thirteen track number, while the solo no-rap version appeared on the album as the number one song.
In a press release, Lewis explains the meaning behind "Difficulty": "It tells the love story of being bad and becomes destructive, the aspect that we can all relate. This is a very emotional and touching song that I have a real relationship with." > Sunday Mirror , "Trouble" was inspired by Lewis's breakup with his childhood lover Lou Al-Chamaa. The lyrics that refer to his relationship with Chamaa include the phrase: "I told you never to get used to me, I stay awake when you fall asleep.I'm really troublesome, we're in a lot of trouble. You shouted louder than usual, and you cling to the bedroom. "During an interview with Digital Spy, Lewis further explained that he was inspired and influenced by British hop-hop pioneers, Massive Attack. The Gordan Smart's showbiz editor also took on the similarity, noting that "Trouble" sounds similar to "Unfinished Sympathy" (1991) and "Teardrop" (1998)) by Massive Attack. "Difficulty" makes comparisons with Sandà © own singles; according to Michael Cragg of The Guardian, "Trouble" is very much like "Heaven" (2011) while Danielle Cheeseman of MSN compares it to SandÃÆ' à © collaboration with Naughty Boy, "Daddy" (2011).
Response
Critical reception
"Trouble" received positive reviews mainly from critics, who praised rap rap Childish Gambino, Lewis's musical productions and emotive vocals. A reviewer from Pop Justice says the site has twice heard the "Problem"; the first time before "Collide" was released in September 2011, while the second version finished playing for them on August 16, 2012. The final song featured the same "feigning nuance" as previous versions but more "done." The reviewer commented, "The 'difficulty' has a convincing, exciting and dramatic vocal performance that works splendidly against the production of a song with a gloomy, gloomy tempo," adding that although Childish Gambino's rap in the middle of the eighth sounded great, "almost" Leona's big comeback. "This sentiment is echoed by Kim Dawson of the Daily Star , describing the song that brought Lewis" bang up to date "thanks to" mid-tempo melody, epic strings, sharp lyrics "and" slammin " Rap from Gambino. "Meanwhile, Kirsten McCormack of the Daily Mail praised Lewis" "subtle and haunting tone" made "Trouble" a "show for Leona's incredible strength and intimacy of talent." McCormack also praised the "self-grown" talent of an entirely British writing camp that conceptualized the song, calling it a "prominent song" and something that could excite Lewis.
During the initial preview of the song, the Corner talks mostly about the appearance of Gambino guests, describing the collaboration as "impossible on paper" but then in reality "it has resulted in one of Leona's most natural collaborations to date." Commenting on the song as a whole, Corner says "Trouble" is a strong comeback, "It's great, it's emotional and that's what we expect from Belvia Hackney - but we do not want it any other way." Gordon Smart, the showbiz editor for The Sun added that although "it's been a long time coming, [...] 'Difficulty' will definitely get people interested in full albums" especially with new voices, pictures and guest rap Gambino will "help eliminate Lewis's secure image." Lewis Corner of Digital Spy also took a change of direction and commented that people would be "shocked," but then added that "when" it produces an emotive song like this, we hope he releases it more often. "The Guardian ' s Michael Cragg called" Trouble "returned to the" safe "template of his first two albums, but praised the song's production calling it" a vague hitch-hop rhythm - faded. buffeted by stretched strings and troubled lyrics in the choir. "Like earlier reviews, Cragg also praised Gambino for stating that he" manages to mark his own personality on the song "despite appearing near the end of the song and perhaps it is Lewis's best chance to" regain his footing in America ".
In a later review, Corner said that "Trouble" was built around "exciting rapping and piano riffs," which when combined with his "clear falsetto" is as dramatic as the scene from the Hunger Games movie. Elena Gorgon of Softpedia echoes her earlier sentiments, concluding that the song "is strong, sincere and affirms Leona as one of the most remarkable vocalists of today." But Danielle Cheeseman at MSN says that "Difficulty" is to return safely to what Lewis always does is not a good thing. In his review, Cheeseman called the song "the same melodrama" with Lewis's previous songs and because the song sounded familiar with Sandà © à © "Daddy", "Lewis has not found his own move yet." Corner featured "Trouble" on his weekly playlist "10 Songs You Should Listen" for the week starting August 27, 2012. There he explained that the song was a welcome return to Lewis thanks to "big knocks, big strings and even larger vocals. ". While most reviews praised Gambino's performance on the song, Cheeseman described the collaboration as a "savior" but that did nothing for Lewis 'credibility'. The review was given a subtitle "Leona Lewis Tries to Reassure Us She's a 'Problem' - We do not buy what she likes'" and concludes that if the best Glassyart can preview after all delays are "Difficulty", "no will be worth the wait. " Jeremy Allen agreed, praising the production on "Problems" as "slick" but claiming that Lewis did not find faith or not to be trusted.

On September 12, 2012, "Trouble" added C-Playlist of BBC Radio's main radio station Radio 1. A week later moved to B-Playlist. This is Lewis's third single after "Footprints in the Sand" (2008) and "I Got You" (2010) lost the top five. In England the song fared somewhat better, debuting at number two on R & amp; B Singles Chart and number seven on the UK Singles Chart. "Trouble" is the second single to miss the top five in the UK after "I Got You", but is ranked ninth from Lewis' ninth Britain. In total, "Trouble" spent four weeks in the top 100. Music video
âââ ⬠<â â¬
A music video for "Trouble" began production on August 22, 2012 with Lewis confirming, via his Twitter account, that Colton Haynes will play his love interest in the video. This is the second time Lewis has enlisted a Hollywood actor to play love, before throwing Chace Crawford to play the lead character in the video for Lewis single "I Will Be" (2009). According to MSN's Felicity Thistlewaithe, Haynes was chosen because of his physical resemblance to Lewis's former boyfriend, Lou Al-Chamaa, who is considered an inspiration for the song. Haynes says that his manager and Lewis are good friends and thus casting it is organized through them. Described by Capital FM as "Lewis eternally awkward break-up" interpolation with "time [s] when the couple is happy and in love," the music video for "Trouble" uses a solo version of the song, which excludes Childish Gambino rap verses. It was filmed in Los Angeles and saw the relationship between Haynes and Lewis revealed in various scenarios, especially focusing on how the couple argued before walking away from each other.
Guided by Raul B. Fernandez, the film-making principle of the video takes place in just one day. While filming the bedroom scene for video, Lewis fell out of bed and injured his toe. A doctor was called in to examine the injury, but Lewis was given all the naked films and proceeded barefoot for the rest of the video. On August 29, 2012, official lyrics video uploaded to Lewis YouTube page. Two weeks later, Lewis uploaded some still images from the music video. On September 14, 2012, Lewis uploaded the official music video for "Problems" to his VEVO account. The behind-the-scenes video footage was released on October 4, 2012, and shows Lewis and Haynes taking their own pictures with comments from Fernandez, Haynes and Lewis.
Synopsis
The video starts with a view of the apartment that Lewis and Haynes share. Books and vases lay scattered on the floor, while Lewis cried in the corner and Haynes watched from a distance with tears in his eyes. The video switched to some other image from Lewis singing the first stanza, looking moody. In the third shot, Lewis was seen standing on the roof against the Los Angeles horizon wearing a dark red outfit. Then the video switches to Lewis who stands in front of projected images of memorable moments of his relationship with Haynes. Lewis and Haynes were seen sitting on the ends of the couch looking into the distance, joined by Lewis scenes on the roof. The couple were seen at an awkward dinner before switching to the couple's picture on the shared bed, looking happy. When the choir first began, the couple was seen arriving at a party, with Lewis wearing aqua-colored dress with his belly revealed, while Haynes was wearing a checkered shirt and jeans. Initially the couple was satisfied, embracing the guests but socializing separately and avoiding contact with each other. The camera switches between this and the previous scene from Lewis in front of projected images and LA horizons across the chorus. When Lewis sings "I'm very much a problem/We're in a lot of trouble", he glances up to see Haynes tease with another girl.
In the following verse, Lewis and Haynes are seen to have several hugs, some excited while others are more tense because Lewis is sad. The couple was then seen leaving the party; Haynes walks toward Lewis and tries to kiss, but he tries to push him away. During the exposure of the two choirs, more pictures of happy scenes among couples connected with Lewis awoke in bed to find Haynes already sleeping on the couch. The more passionate hug between the couple seen before Lewis was seen crying. At the next breakfast, the couple went into a series of arguments. Lewis pushes Haynes to the couch, and Haynes grabs Lewis as he turns around. Lewis then slaps Hayne around his face. During the eight rotations in the middle of the song, Haynes threw the book off the shelf, and Lewis threw objects at Haynes including a pillow, and pushed the lights. Haynes then went away, away into the distance, and Lewis fell to the wall and cried.
Reception
Anna Lewis of Heatworld.com praised the music video and said that fans who "like listening to good songs and seeing cool people" will be impressed. In the review A. Lewis also applauded the decision to lease Haynes and summarized it by saying "Bravo Leona.Bravo." 4 Music Chris Younie agrees to mention Lewis "one of the lucky ladies," as well as shocked by the video. In his review, Younie says, "If you think butter will not melt in the mouth of Leona Lewis, think again, because the video becomes steamy!" He concluded by praising the potential of songs and videos with comments "it can be another No 1 for the beauty of ballads-belting."

The reviewer praised Lewis's balance of "powerhouse vocals with the soul and emotions criticized by his critics".
The tour of local radio stations in the UK starts on September 17, lasts for four days and visits six cities to promote "Problems" and Glassheart . Lewis did the "Problem" live for the first time in the ninth series of The X Factor, the same show that launched Lewis's career six years earlier.
